I gave a curtailed version of that talk to my daughter when she went off to college in Baltimore, focusing on recent crimes there, and the fact that a third of the young black men are under the supervision of the criminal justice system, and that young black women in that city had also committed race-based crime.
She cut me off; she thought I was racist, but a few months of the local news and older students’ stories showed her that I was on the mark, and she is properly cautious.
I added that she should keep her long hair tied up and not “flip” it.
I told her that when I was in college, too many young black men, including fellow students, were trophy-hunting white girls, and that she should never feel pressured by accusations of racism.
I didn’t say anything about acquiring a well-spoken black friend as a shield against accusations of racism; that IS wrong.
I do not want my sweet, loving, unprejudiced daughter injured or raped or killed because she is naive about the racial realities of big city crime, or for her to suppress her survival instincts and common sense for fear of being “racist.”
For Derbyshire to write this publicly is to get fired from a conservative magazine.
For me to say publicly, that I had advised my daughter this way, would be to find myself ostracized in my town - this upscale exurban high-achieving paradise that all the newcomers picked for its good schools - which is code for what most of them will never say aloud or even let themselves think.

I related a story yesterday about a Vietnam vet who got shot dead by one of Holder’s “peeples.”
His big error was opening his door and giving free bags of groceries to poor people.

In fact 82 percent of all elderly white female victims of sexual homicide are raped and murdered by black men. There are many black serial killers that have targeted and murdered almost exclusively white women with Carl Eugene Watts, the most prolific serial killer in US history. thought to have murdered almost 100.

Eldridge Cleaver. a leader of the black power movement in the 1960s and an admitted serial rapist of white women, wrote in his seminal book, Soul on Ice, that he was motivated by racist revenge to commit these crimes;
““Rape was an insurrectionary act. It delighted me that I was defying and trampling upon the white man’s law, upon his system of values, and that I was defiling his women – and this point, I believe, was the most satisfying to me because I was very resentful over the historical fact of how the white man has used the black woman. I felt I was getting revenge.
I started out practicing on black girls in the ghetto where dark and vicious deeds appear not as aberrations or deviations from the norm, but as part of the sufficiency of the Evil of a day. When I considered myself smooth enough, I crossed the tracks and sought out white prey. I did this consciously, deliberately, willfully, methodically.”
Cleaver also spoke about a love/hate some black men have for white women:
Many whites flatter themselves with the idea that the Negro male’s lust and desire for the white dream girl is purely an esthetic attraction,but nothing could be further from the truth. His motivation is often of such a bloody, hateful, bitter, and malignant nature that whites would really be hard pressed to find it flattering.”

Reality is what it is, and personal stories like the one I’ve replied to here by heartwood are reality.
How much do you know of the Cincinnati riots of April 2001? They were well-reported on here at FR. In the national media, not so much. They were very much overshadowed by events of September of that year. At some level, it appears we are coming back to a societal discussion we should have had back then.
The brutal reality is that whites do not regularly make racially motivated attacks on blacks in the USA. The converse is not true.
Ignore this at your peril.

AND, I did the exact same thing when my beautiful, naive 18-year old set off for UC Berkeley. She knew nothing of the dangers of black criminals. An acquaintance in the area filled me in as to the types of crimes committed against whites and Asians and who was committing them. Local blacks from Oakland prey on college students, robbing them of their laptop computers, iPads, iPods, cash and expensive bikes.
I too was called a racist. When I picked up the college girl at Christmas, I noticed her dorm was locked up tight as a drum with a clerk at the front desk buzzing in visitors and checking IDs.
On the front door of the dorm were several “BEWARE” posters of criminals who were snatching purses, backpacks, necklaces and computers — all were black.
She is much more aware now.
And no, I don’t sleep at night.
Weirdly enough, young black men would benefit more from Derbyshire's talk, given that the vast majority of black men are murdered by other black men, often under the precise conditions the Derb lists.
The trophy-hunting, and the accusations of racism if they are not encouraged, are real, and you were wise to warn your daughter.
It is a simple fact that I have been harassed by black men quite a bit, and that they do so in a way that’s more....I don’t know, predatory?.....than white men. That’s thirty years of my experience, and it might be uncomfortable and un-PC, but there it is. A black guy sneered at me once, “What’s the matter? Don’t you like the black meat?”
I’m in my 40s and I still see it. Just the other day, I was doing some shopping in Kroger, and there were two young black guys in the front of the store, with the baggy pants down around their hips, and one of them was dancing, with no regard for the people who were trying to get around him. Of course no one had the nerve to speak up-—might seem racist. I needed to get past, so I said sharply, “Watch out!” and walked between them so they had to move. One of the guys muttered something, but all I could make out was “Hey baby, why don’t you-—”and then a security guard walked up and they moved on.
It’s a fact of life, and I’m not going to pretend it isn’t so that I can seem more tolerant.

I think your numbers are way too low. Isn’t the correct figure for Baltimore about 60%?
(Counting those in prison, those on parole or probation, and those with outstanding arrest warrants.)
