I had some burns that made me glow in the dark.

Aloe vera, especially fresh aloe vera, is redhead-in-the-sun's best friend.
I have seen it literally make things a dermatologist would call "pre-cancerous somethingorothers" disappear. And it can take the sting out of a sunburn as if it never happened.
Every redhead should have about ten aloe vera plants in the yard!

Sunburns so intense that the sheets on the bed hurt your skin. That's the way they were for me. Had one so bad once on my legs that I literally couldn't stand for more than five minutes at a time, and I'd just gotten a new job at a sandwich shop. They totally understood, thank goodness.
And was your nose pretty much a perpetual scab all summer long every year of your childhood? Mine was!
Heed the aloe vera! It heals.
