Obama setting up Supreme Court as a campaign issue
Associated Press ^ | 4/5/12 | ANNE GEARAN

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is laying groundwork to make the majority-conservative Supreme Court a campaign issue this fall, taking a political page from Republicans who have long railed against liberal judges who don't vote their way.

The emerging Democratic strategy to paint the court as extreme was little noted in this week's hubbub over Obama's assertion that overturning his health care law would be "unprecedented."

His statement Monday wasn't completely accurate, and the White House backtracked. But Obama was making a political case, not a legal one, and he appears ready to keep making it if the high court's five-member majority strikes down or cuts the heart out of his signature policy initiative.

Sorry, that’s not going to get me to vote for Mitt.

Send me your e-mail address and I'll make sure that Osama Obama sends you his personal thanks for being such a wise and courageous American.I might even be able to get Bill Ayers to sign the note as well.

Obama is doing two things. First, he is using typical Alsinsky tactics in anticipation of Obamacare being tossed out. That is, vilify and discredit all political “enemies”. Second he is using conservative rhetoric to cofuse people about the issue of “jucdicial activism”. He is trying muddy the distinction between applying the Constitution as written to restrict government usurpations, and making up law based on “implied rights”, and “international norms”. If he can make people think its all the same thing, he can neutralize it as an issue.

Maybe it is about time the SC had its own press spokesman?

No,that's not their job...at least not while they're sitting on the bench.Defenders of our Constitutional system and/or retired members of the bench should be doing that.

I'm really, really looking forward to casting my vote against our ill-liberal president.

Why don’t you use your energy to fight for conservatism instead of insulting me?

You roll over and show you belly to the enemy every 4-years. You need to stop surrendering in fear of Obama.

Obama has you wrapped around his little finger, LOL.

I think he intends to say he needs to be re-elected to appoint “moderate” judges instead of more nasty conservatives.

Same argument Republicans are using just upside down.

I also think this was a stern warning to the Democrat Socialist sympathizers on the Court not to make this anything but a 5-4 decision.

If they have woken up, looking at Romney will put them right back to sleep.

I think it’s clear that the administration has been tipped off as to the results. The Pubbies can’t make the accusation lest they are seen as interfering also. But - some enterprising muck raker who wants to make a name for themself should be able to follow the smoke here.

Not even close. He’s making them a campaign issues so he can dissolve them, period. He holds nothing but contempt for any ‘judges’ who have more power than he does.

Don't fall for the false equivalency Obama is setting up. Nulifying a law because it violates the Constitution is not the same as making up laws from whole cloth. Judicial activists read into the Constitution whatever words they need, to arive at the conclusions they want. The rest of us would need those special Franklin glasses (from National Treasure) to see what isn't there.

Supreme Contempt

Three branches of government become one as president becomes king.

Photobucket
A 'Constitutional Scholar' Who Doesn't Understand the Constitution

Barack installs himself as head of all 3 branches of government.

After 3+ years, we have found that Obama's purpose and agenda did not fit the meaning of his words and promises. He always felt that the Supreme Court was inconsequential and Congress was just something to go around if one wanted real social justice.

So now President Trojan Horse, the former 'lecturer' on the Constitution at the University of Chicago, was forced on the defensive Wednesday and has set forth a 'good example' of judicial activism. He's disbanded the 'do-nothing' Congress and the nine Supremes.

The 'You'll Never Be Able To Go Back To Your Life As You've Known It' Act was signed into law by the all-infuriating Barry Jackwagon Obama who said that 'in order for all of us to get along and go along the three branches of the American government are hereby decreed to be headed by the Jug Eared CinC Cipher who resides in the Oval Office.'

With his new authority the Supreme Ruler commanded it 'a duly constituted and passed law' of the land.

Barry admitted his first big premeditated lie to the American people was when he took the oath of office... to uphold and defend the Constitution. He said it was a 'major lie.' Then the all- knowing and sensing president also muttered something to the effect that his entire life has been leading up to this revolutionary moment and that resistance was futile... The planned hell-holes you all will eventually end up in don't allow vacations or SUV's...

He's doing whatever he wants with impunity and he knows that no one is going to call him on it.

Where can I get myself an official Obama Dictator flag. Do they sell them on his website?

Is he trying Chicago tactics on the Supremes - hoping one or two will retire and give him another shot at loading the Court with more liberals??

Yeah, picking a fight with a co-equal branch of government that possesses and wields real federal power is always a winning strategy.

This piece of garbage King Obama thinks he is dictator already. And damn near is since he has bought much of the election now.

taking a political page from Republicans who have long railed against liberal judges who don't vote their way

So, is Anne Geran showing mere cluelessness about the substance of Republican complaints about liberal judges who legislate from the bench instead of weighing the law against the Constitution, or is she deliberately misrepresenting their position?

(That's a rhetorical question only - since the source is the AP, it goes without saying that the author is both clueless and deliberately misrepresenting the goals of Republicans.)

And yet all we hear are Republicans defending the Supreme Court. Funny how that happens, isn’t it?

The Republicans need to lead on these issues instead of following Obama’s lead - perhaps the RINO’s like Obama’s path, hmmm?

P.S. I’ll never vote for Mitt.
