C’mon Tyler.

If it weren’t for a couple of my friends who are friends with you I wouldn’t have known who you were until a couple of months ago and I don’t think I would recognize you at a party.

Doesn’t mean you are black. Doesn’t mean you are invisible.

I just don’t know you.

Now, the black officer might have recognized you because you are prominent in the black community and a bit of hero.

Heck, even I admire your story but wouldn’t have read it. A friend told me about it as you discussed doing some producer deal.

If I was a white cop, and I am white, and I knew who you were and you described your security it would definitely be a coin toss as to whether or not you were ticketed for a very unsafe maneuver.

Now, if I were this white cop and hadn’t heard my friends stories about your life you would get a ticket.

Hopefully, the Black cop explained a little bit who you are and that your security measure seemed reasonable so long as no one was in danger and I hope you weren’t ticketed because, it does seem reasonable to me as do the other things that I know people like you are advised to do.

You didn’t get a ticket otherwise it would have been mentioned in the story.

Give the racism thing a break. They probably didn’t know you are a big deal and they likely took the advice of their brother in blue and didn’t issue you a ticket.

Which means we could infer favoritism of the Noble and Privileged. Couldn’t we?

1. Cops are in the habit of giving everybody a hard time. Tyler didn’t roll down his passenger window fast enough. The lack of instant obedience pissed off one of the cops.

2. I don’t see this as a racial incident. The only thing wrong with this was the cops decided to make nice once they found out Tyler was famous. Double Standard here.

3. Cops routinely use petty traffic stops to provide probable cause. Usually public school graduates will let police search car and person if they just ask. Improper left turns, failure to signal are favorites.

4. Cops just need to calm down, lose the swagger and attitude. People would be nicer to them.

5. Traffic fines fund the municipal judiciary, the court houses, judges, public defenders. If you go to traffic court remember the judge gets paid out of traffic fines.

The whole system stincks and causes unnecessary stress on everybody. It won’t change because best I can figure voters enjoy being hassled by cops. And cops love to swagger around scaring people. I don’t understand any of this.
