Among their claims is that the Clintons were the first to charge Obama is not a natural born citizen as required by Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution and that his birth certificate is a forgery.

I remember rumors to that effect, too, but always with the caveat that the Clintons had invented the "politics of personal destruction, and couldn't pursue matter."

The logical consequence of why nothing came of it, the Clintons, astute as they are, weighed the odds of what would result in their direct attack on the "actual first black president," and the racial grief that would result wasn't worth the risk.
Better to wait 4 years, let the "should be waiting tables for us" pretender self destruct, and move in in 2012 or 2016.
