Don't think it was King County, but something like this actually happened to another small county in Texas. Try Googling or using the Wikipedia entry for "Loving County, Texas".

Of course, you can see the result of the gimme cult takeovers of cities like Detroit and Philadelphia, both of which once held top billing as the wealthiest cities in America.

Herbert Hoover actually carried Pennsylvania in his 1932 reelection campaign against FDR when he got shellacked nationwide. Philadelphia voters were the main reason, believe it or not.
