A new report shows that nearly 10 percent of non-Medicaid food-stamp recipients in New Hampshire actually live outside the state. WMUR reports:

After an audit of 24,355 non-Medicaid food stamp recipients in New Hampshire, the report shows 2,200 hold a primary address outside of the state. [...]

“We are up to a potential in that program alone of up to $41 million worth of payments that may be questionable,” said House Speaker Bill O’Brien.

The report also cites cases of incarcerated or deceased residents getting benefits, including one where the recipient may have been dead since 1983.

Well you CAN register and vote same day in NH, why should welfare leeches not have the same advantages?

That Jean Shaheen, now there’s a beauty!

We've had a similar problem in Kansas for decades. Only this involves vehicle registration. The people live in Kansas but tag their vehicles in (take your pick, any state is cheaper to tag in). Primarily they tag in Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Any of you Freepers that live in Kansas, just look around and see for yourself.

America simply is not going to survive living like this.

Where is the outrage?

New Hampshire used to be the “Live Free or Die” state. Very independent minded. You can still find pockets of the independent minded north of Concord and Portland.

South of Portland and Concord is no more than a bedroom community of Boston. NH has changed a lot in 30 years.

I remember a time when being on welfare in NH looked nothing like it does today. You had to get the price of clothing, food etc. Go to the town office and tell them how much and who you were making the purchase from. They’d issue a check to that party for the exact amount which you’d take back and finish the transaction. The late governor Shaheen changed all that along w/ a liberal legislature. Its been down hill ever since. Too bad b/c NH was a great place to live and raise a family.

How many others in all states are collecting benefits under more than one ID?

Nice try blaming libertarians. Why don’t you blame the RINO’s who chased off a block of voters who should be the natural allies of Republicans.

Libertarians don’t support government handouts for anyone. If you’re going to slam them you should at least get your facts straight. There’s plenty of legitimate criticisms of libertarians, but accusing them of supporting liberal Dem ideas ain’t one of them.
