Zimmerman’s Brother Comes to His Defense: ‘He Stopped Someone from Disarming Him’
newsfeed.time.com ^ | 30 March, 2012 | Madison Gray

Robert Zimmerman Jr. is steadfast in his defense of his brother George, insisting that he shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin to death in self-defense only because the teenager attacked him and attempted to take his gun, putting Zimmerman in mortal danger. “That’s called ‘saving your life,’” Robert Zimmerman Jr. said.

He appeared Thursday on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight denying that Zimmerman pulled a gun from its holster and fired, instead saying that “he stopped someone from disarming him and shooting him, he didn’t pull out a gun and shoot him. George showed tremendous restraint.”

But according to an initial police report, Zimmerman told officers arriving at the scene of the Sanford, Fla., incident that he shot Trayvon Martin. Police reported that they found Trayvon lying face down on the ground and could not revive him. Zimmerman’s father, Robert Sr., told Orlando’s WOFL-TV in a silhouetted interview that the teen attacked his son, threatening to kill him. “At some point,” Robert Sr. said, “George pulled his pistol and did what he did.” His information was based on his own conversations with his son and others, he said.

Zimmerman has claimed that Trayvon pummeled him, broke his nose and smashed his head against the ground, causing severe injuries. But a police surveillance video obtained Wednesday by ABC News, showed Zimmerman handcuffed in police custody and apparently without any of the injuries that would be consistent with a life-or-death struggle. But his brother insists that he actually was hurt and was treated at the scene.

Well, at some point, Zimmerman wasn’t at a distance. Otherwise, there would not have been a physical confrontation. He claims he was caught by surprise, but no one witnessed how it started.

All of those things that "we" (the public) don't have may very well be thoroughly documented by the police. They haven't released details of their crime scene analysis. They haven't released all of the 911 calls. They haven't released any witness statements.

So, while it's accurate to say that "we" don't have enough information to determine whether an arrest should have been made the police might. "We" don't know.

What is your problem?

Martha Cutcher and Selma Mora Lamilla said they heard the yelling, they heard the shot, and they immediately went outside where they saw Zimmerman on top of Martin. How did he get there?

The fellow on the audio couldn't see the actual shot because of Zimmerman was on top of Martin. He identified the person who got off of Martin as Zimmerman.

I'm sorry I haven't jumped aboard your “Blame the Victim” boat, but like the lead investigator I don't believe Zimmerman's story.

Isn't it interesting that the audio expert has concluded that it was not Zimmerman yelling in the background on the 911 tape.

...your “Blame the Victim” boat...

Clearly you are the one here who has made up their mind without all the facts. Your agenda is showing.

My problem is that the other night you willfully misrepresented what witnesses stated in order to further your narrative, and have since obfuscated and refused to take responsibility.

On the thread you referenced earlier in this thread you posted:

“At least three witnesses have reported that Martin was on the bottom, under Zimmerman, face down when he was shot.”

You know that is false. You were repeatedly called on it. You are a dishonest person posting in bad faith, and people should know that before they engage you. Period.

I was repeatedly called on it --- by you, lol.

Have you also run to momma to report posters who have widely and wildly claimed that Martin was a tattooed drug-dealing gangsta-wannabe thug and that Zimmerman did the world a favor by killing him?

As a matter of fact I have asked that pictures that were not Trayvon be taken down by moderators, I have told individual posters that the pictures they posted are not Trayvon, I have said that Trayvon’s tattoos are a non issue (as I have tattoos myself), and I have questioned the authenticity of a Facebook page located on a blog that I was provided a link to.

If you had posted “In my opinion....” or “Another possible scenario is.....” or “I wonder if....” there would be no issue. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. The problem is you were misrepresenting what witnesses said. There’s a big difference.

So says you. Actually, Zimmerman's story had a false ring to it and, to me (and the lead investigator), it raised red flags.

There are only three named streets in the complex: Long Oak Way, Twin Trees and Retreat View Circle.

Zimmerman was close the clubhouse by the mailboxes which are on Twin Trees when he called the police. There is a short pathway there that runs between Twin Trees and Retreat View Circle. Midway on that pathway, between the two streets, there is a right turn that one can take. That long pathway runs behind the houses on Twin Trees and Retreat View Circle.

Zimmerman told the dispatcher that be thought the suspicious person was running towards the back entrance to the complex which is on Retreat View Circle.

It is logical to assume that Zimmerman followed on the short pathway from Twin Trees to Retreat View Circle where he would have a clear view to the back entrance and any fleeing suspicious person.

It would be illogical to assume that he had taken the long pathway that ran behind the buildings since they, the buildings, blocked any view of the back entrance.

Zimmerman first agreed to meet the police at the mailboxes and then ammended that --- asking them to call him when they arrived so he could tell them where he was. Why would he make that request unless he intended to continued his search for the suspicious person?

I might be completely off base but I think that on his way back to his vehicle, he decided to take a detour and check out that long pathway. That is where the killing took place. What was Zimmerman doing on that long pathway? How, when, why did he go on the long pathway?

If he had only stayed in his car, like he had been trained to do, none of this would have happened.

Why don’t you ask JR for a job as a moderator instead of merely being a self-appointed thread policeman?

I don’t police threads. When I happen to come across something that is false or dishonest I question it. Conversation over.

I have seen too many cases where the police do not think they only arrest with the excuse of let the judge sort things out.

I do not think this officer thought he had a strong case. That is why he sought the fig leaf of dumping it on a prosecutor.

Rest assured we will have an arrest regardless of the facts or the truth or even justice.

we have gone from “drink the koolaid” to “enjoy the skittles”
