:: Travon’s father called the police the next day (to report missing son), and learned about the incident later that day. ::
This to me is an interesting aside to the story.
I’ve heard that the altercation/shooting took place some 200 feet (unconfirmed, to my current knowledge) from the apartment where is father was, apparently, watching the NBA All-Star game.
Yet, he missed the gun-shot, the multiple sirens, and the commotion just outside his door.
He did not miss his son -who was staying with him because of disciplinary problems- until the next morning (on his FIRST evening with “Dad”). And, Dad’s first reaction was to see if he had been arrested.
There appear to be some unconnected “dots” in this side-story.
I read the father and his GF went out to dinner so they were NOT at home when the incident happened. He had the GF make a few calls to see if juvie hall or LE had picked up his son then WENT TO BED.
Next morning, no Trayvon, calls brother (or cousin) and finds out the the movie presumption was false.
I'm giving dad the benefit of the doubt - he might be somebody you'd love to have as a best friend.
IIRC, Trayvon's father was not home, he was out with his 'fiancee'.
