So how does this tweet relate to a suspension, and was it the primary cause?

I have no idea. Just putting out that this isolated tweet seems to be the basis of the "suspended for beating the bus driver" rumor.

Over at this thread, it comes out that school officials suspended him in October for graffitiing a locker. When the searched his bag, they found "Trayvon’s backpack contained 12 pieces of jewelry, in addition to a watch and a large flathead screwdriver, according to the report, which described the screwdriver as a burglary tool".

It's looking more and more like Zimmerman was correct when he suspected Trayvon was casing the area for burglary.
