MIAMI -- Dwyane Wade and LeBron James were only a few miles away from Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26, participating in the NBA All-Star Game on the night the unarmed black teenager wearing a hooded sweatshirt was shot to death by a neighborhood crime-watch volunteer.

They never knew the teenager, but on Friday they decided it was time to speak out -- as did many others around the NBA...

The National Basketball Players Association issued a statement saying it was saddened and horrified by the killing, demanded an arrest and accused the police department in Sanford, Fla. -- where Martin was shot -- of "racial bias."

Oh, well, LOOK OUT, folks, the UNION of NBA players DEMANDS justice and DEMANDS an arrest of George Zimmerman.

America better listen to these elite members of the 1%.

While I generally could care less what overpaid, professional crybabies . . . . er, athletes think, this is absurd. To date, the facts of this episode have NOT been released and everything that has been made public is based on DBM speculation, innuendo and inaccuracies.

I would love to see a complete investigation that exonerates Zimmerman (if he is, indeed, innocent) and makes Obama and the NBA (To name just a couple) look like the fools they are.

Right now, all of these idiots are going off half-cocked without knowing the full story!

I don't watch the NBA these days. This blatantly bigoted action doesn't change that.

It took a month for this to gain traction. Where did it first show up? Who started this? This is exactly like the staged outrage of the Danish Mohammad cartoons. That took months to get off the ground, and the worst drawings were forgeries. Somebody found this otherwise nothing story and decided to make hay of it, no doubt more because of the security guard’s name than the name of Mr. Hoodie. Well, they should have looked harder for a story, because once all the facts come out, this story is going die a hard death and go down the memory hole.

Didn’t hear Jerry Rivers comment but it does bring up something tha I have not seen addressed; the hoodie.
Is it just a “fashion statement” like the baggy pants down low and the underwear showing?
Talk to a LEO who is up on this stuff and they’ll tell you it’s original intent is to disguise facial features and intimidation.
Someone walks into a store, pharmacy or up to an individual with a hood up so you can’t see their face, hands in the hoodie pockets and a normal person’s threat meter spikes. That is what many of these kids, of all races want, to intimidate.
In the Martin case it may have been raining or he may have had it up just because with no ill intent, of course now we’ll never know.

Did he call for the same kind of justice when Kobe was accused of rape?
Was that a crime of black on white or black on black?
Wonder where Obama was on that one? Did he call for the Justice Dept to see to it that woman got justice?

Just wondering......

participating in the NBA All-Star Game on the night the unarmed black teenager

Yep, the use of the adjective 'unarmed' in these news stories is quickly overtaking 'unexpected' in economic news. Since when does one need to be 'armed' to be dangerous?
