It's not just the press, livius. Santorum and Romney refuse to debate Gingrich. He clobbered them in the SC debate, then the next debate in Florida the audience had to be "silent," then no more debates. All at the very time when public interest was beginning to be engaged.

Romney runs a well-timed but malicious campaign. Santorum is "Look at me! I'm the anti-Romney!"

It's a long march to mediocracy.

What shall we do?

Santorum and Romney are both scared of Gingrich, and preventing him from being in a situation where people can realistically compare his polished, well-thought out expression with their lame and stammering meanderings is vitally important to them.

Even without Gingrich to worry about, however, Santorum seems to be shooting himself in the foot on a daily basis. He makes Biden look articulate. The question is whether the voters care, because it seems that they have lost interest in ideas and are going for some image that appeals to them(Santorum the Godly, Romney the Multi-Millionaire).

The only encouraging thing is that Gingrich is not giving up, so perhaps he sees some hope somewhere out there, at least of a brokered convention that might provide other options.
