I believe the decision to be put on the transplant list is as personal as any other medical decision. Age is but one of many factors to consider.

Shifting gears, I wonder if the family of the donor has any clue the heart of their loved one is beating in Dick Cheney's chest? (It would not be hard for the family to at least figure out the probability) I would imagine the knowledge could be very comforting or devastating.

You are right about transplanting being a personal medical decision, unless one is over 65 and needing a lung or two.

Even if I was not over the cut off age, I still would have chosen not to undergo that procedure. I also, would have prefered being the one that made that decision, not the gov.

Someone has to die in order for the recipient to live. Having said that, I would hope that the family of the donor would be happy that it was Dick Cheney that was the one carrying their loved ones heart.
