Gingrich sticks to script despite tough odds in Saturday’s Louisiana primary

NEW ORLEANS--It was less a campaign speech and more a general studies lecture.

Standing against the backdrop of a chalkboard and two massive charts featuring the periodic table, Newt Gingrich spent his final campaign event ahead of Saturday's Louisiana primary addressing a classroom full of Tulane University students.

For nearly 45 minutes, the former House speaker talked at length about an array of somewhat unexpected subjects, including the Wright Brothers feud with the Smithsonian over the birth of modern aviation—an analogy he made to highlight private enterprise versus over-the-top government spending. He described himself as a "dreamer" and defended his efforts to champion future space exploration.

--snip--

It was not until the end of his remarks that Gingrich made his first and only mention of Louisiana's primary. "The point of my campaign is that big ideas matter. Talking about things is worth it," the ex-speaker declared. "I need your help tomorrow."(continued)

Newt is who we need, Rick is not.

We need Ronald Reagan but he isn't going to be the next President, either.

We`ve had an exceptionally early, warm spring. Today it is cold and raining though :(

Warm Spring is wonderful, but rain for the beautiful flowers! I hope Newt wins some delegates today!

That would be nice if Newt was able to win a few delegates! I’ve moved on to the Martin Zimmerman fever swamp :)

[ Then we need to replace the Republican Party. Let the RINOs rule over an empty husk. ]

Good luck with that... Its NOW or never..
Never is starting to look doable..

80+% of the electorate is pretty well brain washed..
Zerodamus and his minions seem to know it too..
Rules for Radicals(Alinsky) was indeed brilliant..

Top down, bottom up, inside out..(Soros)
You know like Glen Beck displayed for a full week on his TV Show..
and few cared or even remember that information..

Unless the sheep stampede(revolt) the wolves will feast..

If FReepers can’t identify who the REAL Conservative voice is, how can we expect the less politically astute? Vote NEWT!

If it were that easy, we'd have already done it. We hear this talk nearly every election cycle and it isn't going to happen. In this environment you'd have to compete with the existing Republican party for at least an election cycle or two - perhaps longer. The GOP isn't going to just say, "well gee, Yashcheritsiy and friends are going to fire up their own party now, lets just go away". Actual conservatives can dominate the Republican party and win its nomination, but it requires very good, charismatic candidate(s). Movement conservatives/Tea Party did not put one up this time around. Heck, we all can't even come close to agreeing on which of the last 2 candidates would be the best non-Romney, how do you expect to replace the Republican party when those kind of divisions exist?

:-( What? lol. Hope all is well. I was really depressed at the beginning of the week when the media was all about Romney being the nominee and some FREEPERS were already saying that we had to get behind him. It was tragic that some were already giving up.

A prophet is not without honor, save in his own land.

Newt Gingrich is, hands down, the best candidate.

Unfortunately, we are once again settling for second-best.

Oh, Hiya naps! Seeing you has put a smile on my face!!! I'm so sorry the news depressed you. I've been so depressed I haven't been able to drag myself to my computer. I stayed away from news in order to become cheerful again. :)

I an't imagine FReepers giving in to support Romney!!! I'll never vote for him.

I've done my voting. It's all in the hands of others now. I think I'll be in CA before CA votes, so I'll try to help Newt Gingrich with his campaign but that's all I can do aside from sending a little more money if I can find any.

I hope you're well and I hope your wonderful Mom is planning to vote Newt!! Please tell me YES!

My 85 year old uncle voted for Newt, today.

he said the other 2 men were too artificial.

He says he wants to see Newt debate Obama. (Love my Uncle Thomas)

Just got back from voting, a couple of the gals I know there said the turnout is very low.
Normally there would have between 150-200 by now, We were number 52 and 53.

GO NEWT!

Yep. Just like mine when I was voter number 59 at 4:00PM.
Folks are demoralized by the damn polls when they should go vote for Newt Gingrich to make the polls wrong.
