SANFORD, Fla. -- A Florida man was arrested Friday and charged with making death threats to Sanford police chief Bill Lee, who stood down a day earlier over his department's handling of the Trayvon Martin case.
John Carnduff Stewart, 68, from Melbourne Beach -- 65 miles (105km) southeast of Sanford, a suburb of Orlando -- was arrested over an email he is accused of sending to Lee on Thursday morning, WESH-TV reported.
Sent with the subject line "coming to get you," the email made death threats aimed at Lee and his family, as well as threats to harm Sanford police officers, investigators said. Stewart was charged with one count of written threats to kill or do bodily injury.
Investigators said Stewart had a history of making threats, including being investigated for threats allegedly made against Penn State football coach Mike McQueary.
Martin, 17, was shot and killed Feb. 26 by a neighborhood watch volunteer in a Sanford gated community. His killer, George Zimmerman, claimed he acted in self-defense and has not been arrested or charged, leading to widespread outcry and protests.
Don't assault armed citizens. You wont like the outcome.
John Carnduff Stewart
Put him in general population and let him make friends.
Martial Law Executive Order + Death of this child = Major confrontation coming. If you don’t see the connection better take another look.
Now, how about the New Black Panthers "Wanted Dead or Alive" campaign?
He looks like he came OUT of the general population.
Those peace and love types are the most violent of all.

What a loser.
