President Obama’s remarks today about the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin drew scowls from GOP presidential contender New Gingrich, who called them “disgraceful” and divisive.
“What the president said in a sense is disgraceful. It’s not a question of who that young man looked like,” Gingrich said on Sean Hannity’s radio show.
President Obama today offered a personal reflection on the tragic shooting the Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, saying the incident requires all Americans to “do some soul searching.”
“When I think about this boy, I think about my own kids,” Obama told reporters....
Gingrich said on the radio show: ”Any young American of any ethnic background should be safe period. We should all be horrified no matter what the ethnic background. Is the president suggesting that if it had been a white who had been shot that would be ok because it didn’t look like him?”
He went added that it’s “just nonsense dividing this country up. It is a tragedy this young man was shot. It would have been a tragedy if he had been Puerto Rican or Cuban or if he had been white or if he had been Asian American of if he’d been a Native American. At some point we ought to talk about being Americans. When things go wrong to an American. It is sad for all Americans.”
Gingrich, a former speaker of the House of Representatives, said: “Trying to turn it into a racial issue is fundamentally wrong. I really find it appalling.”

Obama is an ASS. I was FLABBERGASTED when I heard him make a statement like that. Similiar to how he related that Fluke chick to his two daughters. Seriously, that man is SICK and perverted and not president of ALL the People. Gingrich was right to point this out with his disgust. Indeed a share it.
Yes, Zimmerman is given no credit for being brave enough to go out and confront folks who could be bad actors in their neighborhood. On the other hand, some will sit home and let crimes happen too.

IMHO, POTUS Obama will regret the day he ever uttered any words relative the Zimmermann/Martin tragedy!!! And......looking as to what the real, honest facts concerning this incident will reveal, American Blacks are going to be adrift at sea for many years. Their so-called leaders have failed them with Black Racist rhetoric, and....even worse Black Americans have failed themselves. It is beginning to appear that the innocent looking Mr. Martin was not so innocent as the media and Black racists would portray him!!! I will, of course, hold judgement until the truth be known from both sides!!! Obama’s rush to judgement so to speak, is typical Obama buffooness and lies!!! American Blacks will live to rue the day they even embraced Obama as one of their own, IMHO!!!

I am so heartened to hear Newt weigh in on this. This is EXACTLY the sort of statement that is appropriate for this.

It astounds me that blacks make up only 13% of the population, but we are made to think there numbers are so much bigger because of the damed media. I remember well the Tawana Brawley outrage that Sharpton ginned up that was false, and now Jesse Jackson has joined the fray. These two repulse me and most Americans see them as the race pimps they are.
God help Zimmerman if he was the victim of an attack by Martin. He better get a really good lawyer who can protect him from the growing mob wanting to lynch him before a trial.

Well, it’s sad that this country and its voters have grown so stupid, so myopic, and inept, really.
The party is just a bunch of connected hacks — it’s the People who are buying their crap, hook, line and sinker, and not even knowing how to discern. Even the most “moral” among us can’t discriminate anymore.
What can anyone do? Liberals got a hold of this society through the schools and the media — everyone is dumbed down, brainwashed, and anti-intellectual. No one reads, cares, remembers anymore ...
We will get what we deserve. Then it will implode. We will have to watch, try to survive it, and then the fit will be left to rebuild.
I hope Newt is still among us at that point.
