The Sanford Neighborhood Watch volunteer who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, did not instigate the encounter but has received death threats and moved out of his home, his father told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday.
George Zimmerman, 28, has not been arrested, something that has put him and the Sanford Police Department at the center of a firestorm. Critics say Trayvon, who was visiting family from his home in Miami, was a victim of racial profiling.
Zimmerman's father, 64-year-old Robert Zimmerman of Lake Mary, delivered a one-page letter to the Sentinel on Thursday, saying that the depiction of his son in the media has been cruel and misleading.
George Zimmerman is Hispanic and grew up in a multiracial family, the statement says.
"He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever ...," the letter says. "The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth."
The letter does not provide details about what happened Feb. 26 on a walkway in the gated community where George Zimmerman lives and where Trayvon was visiting. But it does challenge one basic assumption of the family's lawyers: that Zimmerman's intent when he got out of his sport utility vehicle was to confront Trayvon after calling police to report a suspicious person.

I don’t know what Zimmerman did or didn’t do but I can tell you with Holder as AG and Obama and Black Activists putting pressure on people....This guy is going to jail for a long time no matter what. Obama needs to win Florida and it’s an election year. If I was this guy I would disapper FAST and not come back if I was interested in NOT spending the rest of my life in prison.
They want to foment as much turmoil as possible. Next summer they want to burn the country to the ground ala 1968.

Has there been any background done by the MSM on the deceased?
I read earlier on FR that the family’s lawyer had Martin’s school records sealed, but I don’t know if that is true.
Does he have a police record?
You say that as if that is a reason not to call for the execution of Zimmerman and then life in prison on top of that!
I remember the Rodney King video. Only Pat Robertson showed the unedited version. King kept jumping up off the ground.
This is a good illustration of why responsible citizens should abandon TV altogether.
When I listened to the tape I heard the word "punk" not "coon" as has been widely reported in the news. Several voice experts have also said that he said "punk" and not "coon." Finally, Zimmerman used the word "punk" earlier in the conversation with the dispatcher.
The race baiters are doing everything they can to string this guy up from the nearest tree and claim victory for civil rights. It's a sad commentary that so many are willing to join them.

I was just near a TV and watched some CNN coverage as well as MSNBC. It was shameful! Turn those buggers off and stop paying their salaries. Or would that be too much of an inconvienience?
Oh, great idea. Leave teevee for the IRRESPONSIBLE so they can take the information and really put it to good use. Sheesh.
You miss the point. If WE turn off the teevee, it doesn’t stop a thing. It’s like putting your hands over your eyes to stop a train. It won’t work. The train keeps coming, it’s just that you can’t see it running your down.
Unless Zimmermann is in protective custody I think just about any long sentence will be a death sentence once the “Brothers” in prison find out who he is.......
Yeah I don’t know what happened either as everything is filtered through the PC media machine and we all know they are F-ing liars. I know there are no do-overs in life, I just wish Zimmerman had been more covert. Unfortunately, the race baiters are going to milk this incident for all they can. It doesn’t show any respect for the dead boy and Zimmerman will have a rough time getting a fair hearing whether he is guilty or innocent not that the race hustlers care about either.

I know what you mean. The other day I got attacked for saying something to the effect of Zimmerman might be getting railroaded and that Martin should have not acted suspicious and that we don’t know all the facts so it’s too early to scream “hang him” about Zimmerman.
So many on here who usually don’t trust the MSM have jumped the shark and now believe every word the MSM has printed on this subject.
When the facts do come out (probably after Zimmerman has been hung or murdered) then there will be a lot of people with blood stained hands who helped out the race baiters and threw away their Conservative membership cards.
