Punahou is a "push" for Harvard. So, this gets stranger and stranger. Obviously we are dealing with low grades, low SATs, and perhaps some social problems at dear olde Punahou. With his pigmentation, half-way decent grades and SATs, the kid should have waltzed into, if not Harvard, somewhere very Ivy. OTOH, anyone, with any grades, could trot into Occidental from Punahou with a minimum of effort!
I believe the Ayers connection begins with the Marxist Gay Rights advocate, Prof. Laurence Goldyn at Occidental, who not only was Barry's mentor, but a friend of Bill Ayer's brother.
In re: "the foreign student," it s entirely possible the kid's handlers set him up as a foreign student to get him special funding. That was not an unknown scam back when colleges were trying to recruit "exotics."
The real question is, "Why would the "handlers" recruit such an academic weakling?" As the mystery only deepens, only one salient point emerges: the kid had handlers.

Obama was a heavy drug user at Punahou and an indifferent student. Obama’s grades and student record from Punahou have NEVER been released. Any assumption about Obama’s ability to get into any school because of his record at Punahou is nothing but idle speculation.
Obama was not masquerading as a foreign student, he was a foreign student. He was not a U.S. citizen and had no documentation. Obama was a heavy drug user and poor student at Occidental. We know with certainty that he did not have a GPA of 3.0 or better. He appears to have taken no challenging courses though his record is not available. It is likely, based on interviews with others who were there, that Obama was a part time student at Occidental.
There is no record of Obama ever having attended Columbia University. None of the other Political Science majors at the time recall ever meeting him or even seeing him in any of their classes. No other students recall ever seeing him in the library or on campus. He was in NYC the same time Ayers and Dohrn were. They lived near each other.
Obama’s stories about having a job on Wall Street has been shown to be untrue. Obama has given 5 different versions of how he was hired out of the blue by one of Ayers’ radical associates for a “community organizer” job in Chicago. He was supposed to have helped out of work steel mill and factory workers retrain and find new jobs. There is no evidence whatsoever that he found a single unemployed man a single job.
Obama went from failed community organizer to Harvard Law student. That doesn't happen in real life. Obama had help. Obama got a summer intern job at Sidley and Austen even though they didn't want him in the first place and told him to not came back after one summer. This was the same office that gave a job to Bernardine Dohrn even though she wasn't licensed to practice law and did no actual legal work for the firm.
You really should try to learn a little about the false narrative of Obama’s life that is pushed by the MSM.
