Seven people have been killed and two seriously injured in three attacks in southern France over the past eight days. President Nicolas Sarkozy says the same person and same handgun were behind all three attacks.

The latest from the Ministry of the Interior is that there was one weapon used in all the killings. There are indications that a neo-nazi, neo-fascist element within the military is suspected.

That is incorrect. They do get them and have for the last 10 years or so...

That mention of a tatoo on the face is a striking clue. Of course, the witness could be mistaken (and imagine the stress of such a scene!) Or, it could be a birthmark. Or, it could be camoflague paint. Some military types put paint on their faces - even if not needed - before an action, almost like an Apache’s warpaint.
The people of the Pyrenees are in great worry and grief about these crimes. The attacks are coming every four days. Let us pray for the police and investigators.

They’re sported all over Turkey and in Iraq, people were getting them on all limbs so their family could identify their bodies if they were caught in a VBIED...not everyone is hard-core Islamist..

My point is now made with the arrest of a suspect. Don’t assume things by what the Koran or other writing say when it comes to the modern Islamists. There are multiple levels of conformity in the Muslim world, just as there are in other religions. There’s plenty that are occasional adherents and/or adopt modern trends.
