Army capt.: Afghan killing suspect has saved lives
I believe Capt Alexander. He is a REAL officer and a gentleman. He is also putting his career on the line by going public like this, but it is the right thing to do, and for that, he has my undying Senior NCO respect.
While praying for the Bales, pray for the good Captain, too.
Frankly, we are asking too much of all these fine young men and it sickens me that because of these demands, tragedies like this happen. It really is too much. I have no answer.
Hey, where’s your essay? Are you taking a break this week? Not that you don’t deserve it.
Your essays do not take away from this thread. Rather, they are welcome!
Now, so nobody thinks I’m playing favorites, anyone can post an essay here, and if they ask me nicely, I’ll even post it for them.
In any case, I can hardly dictate what can and can’t or shouldn’t be posted in Mr. Robinson’s web site.
I enjoy Bray’s essays, so I gladly post them.
If any President, dem or pubbie aggravates the likes of Rush Limbaugh they risk getting a spanking that hurts for along while.Just ask dingy harry about the letter he sent to Clear Channel. How'd that work Senator putz.
This guy Bales was on his 73rd recall since we only have 4 troops in reserve these days. And zero’s answer is to cut the defense budget more. We need more fema brownshirts not troops.
Of course that never will excuse what he did. That was just plain stupid.
My goodness that is true!
Really, Romney's statement is a disaster. What a wishy-washy milquetoast thing to say. Where's his fire that the rest of us, who love our country and is dismayed by what Obama is doing. have? I say that not as someone who like or dislikes Romney; but I want to see Obama defeated!!!!
If Romney is too weak to do so, and an argument like that is a sure loser, than Romney CANNOT be the nominee.
I cannot agree with you, Rod. You have NO idea what he's been through. Up to the very last day. Yes, it is no excuse, but it is the reason, like night following day, or rain coming from dark, swollen clouds.
How can something be stupid when no thought was even formed, and the only thing left was vast, horrendous outrage? If thought had won, nothing bad would have happened. But that is now in the past, and we must deal with the present and the future.
Please pray for Mrs Bales and her two small children.
My husband is trying to do the right thing in speaking up for Bales when he cannot. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes.
I would say more about this, but I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to say.
Back from church and catching up - some good comments here from many folks.
Re: Mitt "accepting" the idea, I see the situation a bit differently. I believe Romney and the GOP-E (a friend calls them the Institutional Republican Party) understand perfectly well that he's never going to win over conservatives.
I think the reality is more ominous, in that the GOP-E would prefer to lose with "their man" than to win with conservatives and upset their comfortable status quo. If we learn nothing else from this election, at least we have seen the Establishment elites, which includes both parties, reveal their hand and demonstrate that wealth and power are all that matters to them.
Thanks, tea party taking over pubbies= a great idea.
While he should never have been sent over for yet another tour that he seemed not to have not wanted or to have been ready for,few will excuse what he did.
It is my belief that there has been a long term, deliberate policy/plan to grind down, over-deploy, stress out and weaken our military.
Additionally, destruction of morale through impossible ROE’s and legal prosecution/persecution via corrupt, politically-motivated JAG and NCIS lawyers and their politicized command hierarchy. Remember the “Haditha 9” marines? Multiply that by dozens of similar cases that passed beneath the public’s radar, which have destroyed careers, impoverished the families of services members and imprisoned many.
Now we are about to witness Sgt. Bales own chain of command throw him to the wolves in a vain, stupid and futile attempt to appease the mob of un-appeasable savages.
Agree with all you’re saying re Sgt. Bales. I’d like to know how many guys have been prosecuted like Haditha 9 (all of whom were acquitted except Sgt Witterich who copped a plea to “insubordination” in lieu of mass murder). This is bringng to my mind Tim McVeigh. No comparison in scale of course. But I’d love to know what Tim was thinking. Neither he nor Bales have claimed “insanity”. Indeed a mental defect has been aluded to with Bales (”brain trauma”) but not to the level of legal defense. The active servisemen I am hearing from (I’m a veteran) are pretty much down on Bales for once again portrating us “all” as baby killers. The stresses and humiliation the US command structure and CIC have and are placing on these guys is intolerable, and now they threaten to further reduce retirement medical and financial benefits.
My dream scenario: a deadlocked convention brings the party together with a Ryan-Rubio ticket that sweeps the election in the fall and secures control of the White House for the next 16 years. President Ryan's first cabinet appointment is Sarah Palin as Secretary of Energy, and we all live happily ever after.
I am not convinced that mittens would be better. He has flip flopped on so many issues. I have no faith that he will repeal o-care. Of course, we KNOW o will not repeal it. I don’t know that congress critters will do so either - of either/both party.
You’re breathing aren’t you?
Pray for America
