Along with the realization that Conservatives can win in a Conservative-leaning country, comes the ugly truth that the establishment Republican apparatus is just like the Chicago politician more concerned with maintaining power and selecting candidates than doing the hard work of administering to a bottom-up organization such as the Republican Party was chartered to be.
Todays Republican establishment is, for all practical purposes, a mirror (or converse) image of the Democrat Party; an organization structured from the top-down. This power-hoarding of the hierarchy is evidenced by the ridiculous move to award convention delegates proportionately, a move more in line with the abolition of the Electoral College than with the preservation of the Republic.

Either this writer is very young or Very Stupid, It has been this way My Entire ADULT LIFE.
I want to see establishment blood on the floor.
Frank is a budding member of the CONverse, but his heart’s in sorta the right place in spite of that.
The article makes some good strategic points.
Would you settle for bodies on the floor? Newt's done that once before... and I have to believe he's honed his skill over the years:
Im not sure [Gingrich] ever had a lot of friends here, and Im not sure he cared, because he came here to accomplish a purpose, not to make buddies, said Ken Kies, an influential tax lobbyist and a Gingrich donor. Newt led a revolution, so that tends to leave bodies on the floor.
I'd gladly trade 50 yd line Superbowl tickets for a chance to witness that event!!!
I am all for Newt exposing the weakness of the party and what the republican party should be. Newt can protest these
concerns and force a showdown to make conservatism the platform. It will get ugly but if Newt holds his ideas to
respect of conservatism, principled integrity, America would be more better for it. We cannot continue on this path. Bold changes has to be the issue in fighting Obama, not just social issues. Without the America we know, you will not have to ponder right or wrong; we'll be living under socialism and the government will tell us what is right and wrong.
I’ll settle for bodies on the floor.
Perhaps the author was meaning that the GOP has evolved into a mirror image of the donks. That’s how I read it.
There are good observations in the piece. How realistic it is to expect or even hope that the GOP elite would assume these tactics, is another matter..
A few days ago, a Freeper posted this daunting worst case scenario about the Showdown in Tampa and, at first, I felt bad because I respected his perspective, but then I thought, it's going to be that way forever, no matter what, so why not do it now and do it with Newt to boot!
"First ballots don't solve anything so the delegates are released to pick Newt, Palin, Rubio whatever...right? Wrong! The GOP-e will be making the rules as they go along and like 1976, they will anoint Romney just like they did Gerald Ford over Ronald Reagan. They have too much invested in Mendacious Mitt to let a silly conservative majority stand in their way. Why do you think super RINO of color Michael Steele is so looking forward to a brokered conventionhe and the GOP-e know the plan and they are laughing at their useful idiot from Georgia." (end of FR post excerpt)
I have been saying for a year now we needed a TEA Party March on GOP headquarters...
The GOP Convention would do just as well
You betcha!
I'm so happy I was able to talk you down of the ledge!!
It certainly will get ugly... but think of this, because here is the key, if Newt gets to speak at that convention, just one primetime speech, one typical Newt speech, America changes. America changes. I don't know about the republican party, they are so atrophied at this point, but America changes.
What are everyone’s thoughts about the long term prospects of the conservative movement? Is working within the Republican Party preferable to.....?
We share the dream. :)
Mitt. Its time you quit!
Your credibility isnt worth spit.
RINOs, the Establishment, and Democrats all agree,
But in the General Election, to Obama theyll flee.
Against Obama, liberals and moderates know youll lose.
But conservatives, Romney theyll never choose.
Mitt, our loyalty you cant buy.
Back to Massachusetts, youd better fly.
Just like Gerald Ford, Bob Dole, and John McCain,
Nominee Willard Mitt Romney will result in the same.
As a Governor, your record isnt that great.
Out of 50 states, your popularity was number 48.
Your experience, the Establishment types tout.
Defending federal bailouts and FDIC loan forgiveness will find you out.
Democrats and RINOs cower from their liberal wives,
Supporting Romney with nothing but lies.
In 1994 Ted Kennedy showed Willard to be a great bane,
With Mitts Bain, and Bain Capital, Obama will do the same.
Damon Corp, with Romney paid $119 million in a fine.
Yet Willard says, for his leadership, its time.
He claims jobs he can create and taxes he can lower,
47th out of 50 in growth he rates. Can it get any slower?
$740.5 million dollars a year, fees and taxes under Mitt increased.
Will the half-truths and lies from Romney ever cease?
For Liberty and Freedom, we dont need Flakes,
But Romney says Healthcare responsibilities belong to the States.
Conservatives stand for Self-responsibility, Self-accountability, and Self-reliance.
But against these things, Willards actions scream in defiance.
Establishment Republicans thinks Romney can help take back the Senate,
But they know that for President, Mitt can NOT win it.
Like everything the Establishment Republicans try to do,
It leads to failure, and we get the bill, as well as the screw.
In their corruption, little change do they seek,
They dont want our Freedom to peak.
Their craving for power has pushed their bravery,
To ignore our Constitution, and sell us into economical slavery.
So Willard, dont lecture us on the need for patience and compromise.
Romney, be selfless. Conservatism is on the rise.
Choosing the lesser of two evils, isnt what we desire.
You let them rewrite the language. Wheres your fire?
Romney, they accuse us falsely, and you do little.
Wheres your response, or can you only twiddle?
Mitt, you dont have what it takes to lead.
So with you I plead.
Do you really want to go from Obama-care to Romney-care?
With you, this nation will pull out its hair!
Go somewhere and quietly think
and sit.
Know your own limitations! Mitt. Its time you quit!
An excellent read.
Bring it!
