Newt strategy has pros and cons. He's a smart guy. I pray he knows what he is doing.

I think he’s staying in because he’s having the time of his life.

As it is, the GOPe is going to shove another RINO down our throats.

The worst that could happen at a brokered convention is we get another RINO shoved down our throats.

But we might not.

If his ONLY effect is to run Romney out of the race then I am all for it

I would rather see a Gingrich/Santorum team-up at the convention

This has always been Newt’s biggest problem. He lets his enormous ego overshadow his intellect and competence.

I would love to see a brokered convention. I’m not thrilled with any of the remaining choices and we may well want to see what would come out of there that we could actually support. It certainly couldn’t be any worse then Romney.

Go NEWT!!!!!

Perhaps Team Romney now regrets their carpet-bombing Bloody Thursday attack on Newt. Nah, those pricks are too arrogant to see that they brought this upon themselves.

Newt is a genuine Conservative hero for his efforts to de-rail Romney and protect the GOPe from its’ own stupidity.

I think he knows by staying in he can come to an “agreement” with Rick. If Rick and Newt join forces at the convention would they not win by default? (assuming they have enough committed votes)

He is a historian and he wants to become a part of history, even if it can’t be via a presidential term. I am fine with this since I share the same goal... no Romney.

Figless Newton's wife Calista won't let him drop out. Plus he has more books to sell. The Potomacized loser is a charlatan.

It’s only a spoiler to the establishment, because he’s spoiling their plans. They like to know what’s going to happen way ahead of time so they can manipulate things their way.

They have no idea what’s going to happen and their panicking. The voters aren’t going for their boy and they can’t believe they’re not laying down like normal.

I don’t know how a brokered convention works. When I voted this week, I also voted for delegates. Do the delegates get together and decide the nominee? Could Newt and Rick reach a deal where one will be prez and the other vice prez and directed their delagates to make it happen? Or am I way off base here?

“Newt strategy has pros and cons. He’s a smart guy. I pray he knows what he is doing.”

Yes, he does. Unlike Rick Moran, the author of the hitpiece.
I clicked over and read the whole thing, and I can’t remember ever seeing such a pile of completely groundless assertions published by American Thinker, ever. There is just nothing there to back up or even explain Moran’s statements. Nothing.

Levin predicted in some long monologues last night that there would be plenty of self-described experts coming out now, with no idea of the meaning of what is going on politically, with all kinds of stupid and off-the-mark “analysis”.

Moran just proved Levin right.

I have reservations about Santorum’s ability to beat Romney in a straight up match up so I fully endorse any effort to keep Rombama from the nomination.

I see this scenario in a brokered convention. Romney is exposed for being the weak candidate he is. Despite massive advantages in money, he can barely win states like MI and OH. Therefore, the party dumps him because they know in the General election he’d be toast.

But there will be a ton of animosity towards Rick/Newt from a sizable percentage of delegates. This opens the door for another candidate. Who does the White House seem to fear the most? That seems to be Sarah Palin imo. Can she unite value conservatives and fiscal conservatives? Yah, she can.

I don’t buy the line about her negatives being too high. BHO is obsessed with her. CW on her is wrong. She is a charismatic candidate that would pump out voter turnout on the right even more than current crop. And many woman who voted for Obama in 2008 will have to ask themselves, do they want to make history again, and vote for the first woman president? I think many will and the democrats will lose their traditional edge with women voters. Then you will see a landslide of epic proportions. And that is the way it SHOULD be, with an incumbent this terrible.

"This will be the first time in our party in modern politics that we're going to go to the convention floor."

No, it won't. It happened between Reagan and Ford in 1976. That isn't exactly ancient history. It was my first presidential election.

Go Newt!!!

Thank you! I’ll keep contributing so long as you stay in. Even if you go to convention.
