[ The Statists believe they can make up the deficit with growth. But the producers in this country know what misallocation of resources means.
The IRS rejected my tax return AGAIN!
guess it was because of my response to the question :
List all dependents
I replied:
12 million illegal immigrants;
3 million crack heads;
42 million unemployable people on food stamps,
2 million people in over 243 prisons;
Half of Mexico ; and
535 fools in the U.S. House and Senate.;
Evidently, this was NOT an acceptable answer.
WHO DID I MISS? ]
You forgot about all the foreign aid that gets sent to our enemies, That has to be almost a billion people in over 150 countries.....
Yes, it will.
And this Administration & Congress is doing nothing to stop it - so, one must presume, they are expecting it to crash.
So stop pointing fingers saying “it’s gonna crash!”; we know, everyone knows, question is what those in power are planning to do with the event.
That's why the Dumpocrats, their RINO brethren, and the mainstream media (but, I repeat myself) will continue to talk about women's "contraceptive rights", America's "racism", and the twin threats of Pope Santorum and that Crazy Old Newt who is tilting at windmills - neither of whom has a prayer of getting elected (according to them)!
No baggage? Daniels?
Do you know what the evil media would have done with his divorce story?
A run for president would have been devastating to his family.
” Daniels said he didnt believe the American people are dysfunctional, but said Congress is engaged in practices that make agreement and decisive action nearly impossible. “
That includes Boner, McConnell, and a bunch of other cowards, and/or RINOS
It is not that we can’t repay the debt. It is that any rise in interest rates makes it so we can’t even SERVICE the debt.
You limited your thinking to the US borders.
How about:
European bank bailouts
Aids patients in Africa
UNESCO
The UN
IMF
Fighting for Iraquis and Afghanies.
Every military operation where we are keeping the peace.
Every overseas natural disaster
Every foreign aid recipient
The entire Chinese manufacturing sector via MFT status
Who did I miss?
OH, and I would say you missed about 8 million illegals. I think there are 20 million. 12 million is just the official MSM undercounting lie.
The man is a governor, by all accounts a good one, and he has the right to speak his mind just like you and me. Difference of course is that he is a lot more likely to be heard beyond the confines of our safe little FR world. He might even be the candidate who, after the RINO's and the T-Partiers decide a compromise is in order and someone undamaged by the Primary bloodletting is needed, comes out of Tampa with Rubio in tow. Not likely but possible (and a better option than anybody named Jeb).
Just the elites?
I remember the vast majority of FReepers jumping all over him as well. I don't know if you were around here when he was suggested as a possibility, but he had very little support here.
If the elites were against him as well as conservatives, where would his support have come from?
Oh my aching back...
Time to start that business I’ve had on the back burner. Someone has to get busy creating value.
The elites weren't against him. They loved him because they thought he had as good as shot as anyone of beating Obama. Unlike some here, I generally don't cast nasty motives on the "elite". They also can't stand Obama, and want to see him lose. But they want that so badly that they're willing to push a guy like Romney just because they think he'll be some improvement over Obama. But give them someone who is more conservative, and who has a knack for not making incendiary statements, and they'd have jumped all over him.
Daniels was the conservative answer to what Democrats have been doing successfully for decades. Profess a moderate demeaner and rhetoric, but have leftist policies. That's how they've managed to push a center-right country to the left.
Daniels does the same except from the conservative side. He generally doesn't offend, and doesn't throw out "raw meat" statements for the base either. But in terms of how he actually governs, he's a very solid conservative. Heck, it was pretty clear that guys like Perry only got in the race becasue Daniels didn't. He was extremely popular even among many movement conservatives.
But, he chose not to run, so all my fan-boy adulation means nothing.
I agree with the substance of what you are saying. Quite frankly, I’m angry at the guy for not running, and for leaving us with our current choices. If by some miracle he ended up being the compromise candidate at the convention, I’d be thrilled.
I don't agree with the poster who said that the elites don't like Daniels and I was pointing out that he seemed to have overlooked the vitriol directed toward Daniels right here on FR. It was the base who seemed most antagonistic about the Governor, not the elites.
I agree that the GOP establishment would have accepted Daniels with open arms and that he would have governed as a true conservative both fiscally and socially.
I'm still holding out hope for the brokered convention and a Daniels choice. By then maybe his wife will have realized that the country needs him. Also, perhaps after the contentious primary the base will finally accept that he's not the demon RINO they think he is.
What frustrated me about the reaction of some freepers to him was that the emotional satisdfaction of flaming rhetoric was being valued over the guy's actual record. He doesn't throw out red-meat comments, but he produces red-meat results.
One (unfair) source of dissatisfaction with him was how he dropped Right to Work last year. He had sound legislative reasons for doing so, but some folks held that against him nevertheless. Haven't now broken the stranglehold unions had on the Great Lakes via passage of RTW, I imagine some of those folks might have come around.
