My wife and I said we would vote for either Newt or Rick based upon the polls for Illinois. Newt is running far behind Rick, who is statistically tied with Romney here. It’s a no-brainer to vote for Santorum here, as a result.
Illinois is a good, heartland state. Big Rick should take it. However, Chicago will be problematic with Romneybots for sure. I would imagine the whole State GOP and top GOP officeholders there (if any) are all in the box for Bishop Romney. However, I LOVE this grassroots rebellion, the fire starting and spreading beneath their terrified RINO hoofs. STAMPEDE!!!!
Not Romneys 70.5%
Romney 29.5%
Mitt must quit now. Even the GOP-E must concede this fact after outspending the Not Romneys 10-1.
As you can tell from my signature, I'm a Newt guy. But I think you're doing the exact right thing. I've said all along that I can list a hundred reasons why Newt would be a better president, but that I can live with Rick. He's a decent man and has for the most part, unlike Myth, run an honorable campaign.
I think it's pretty near time for us Newt peole - and I take a back seat to NO ONE in my admiration for the man - to rally behind the only candidate who appears able to defeat BO Light.
I apologize to the great Newt people here who've fought so tirelessly. I'll bet this hurts me as much as any of you. I've been a stalwart supporter of Gingrich for 25 years and was here defending him when it seemed he was so unpopular I might be banned for doing so. But the Fat Lady has sung. We have two enemies that must BOTH be defeated with equal urgency: Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. The only path to doing that now is via Rick Santorum.

I'm of the same mind. I would vote for either Rick and Newt; a "moderate RINO" like Romney would be a disaster. Now that Santorum is proving to be the only viable challenge to Romney, for the life of me I can't understand why Newt is stubbornly persisting.
I wish Rick would call Newt and offer him any position in his administration if he would withdraw his candidacy.
