Quite right. The F-15I and F-16I have conformal fuel tanks that allow these aircraft to reach Iran and back without refueling. The older F-15s and F-16s can carry external fuel, but that compromises their war load. These might need tanker support to complete the mission. They could be used for Combat Air Patrol (CAP) or SAM suppression. The downside is that a maximum effort by the IAF could compromise the strike package and strip Israel of its airborne sword and shield.
I like the Popeye Turbo/Jericho 3 option. That way the IAF can concentrate on exterminating Palestinians, Egyptians, and Syrians.

Here’s a thought: It’s an open secret that the Saudis are going to turn a blind eye to Israeli overflights if TSHTF. If the Saudis “miss” the Israelis using an “abandoned” base, or even just making a dirt strip and pre-positioning supplies in the middle of nowhere, most of those logistical problems go away, and the Saudis still have deniability.
