BILOXI, Miss. - Rick Santorum said today that if a U.S. soldier shot and killed 16 civilians, as U.S. officials have suggested, then the Afghan people deserve an apology.
After an energy conference here, Santorum told reporters that the incident needs to be investigated further, calling it a "horrible situation."
"If it turns out to be the case that this person did a horrible wrong and it was a deliberate act, a deliberate act by an American soldier and that is something we should clearly say was something that we should apologize for," Santorum said. "That it's not a mistake, it wasn't something that was inadvertent. This was something that was deliberately done by an American soldier to innocent civilians. It's something that the proper authorities should apologize for, for not doing their job in making sure that something like this wouldn't happen, something like this should not happen in our military period."

That’s a little misleading - he said “if it is as reported”.
Lib media looking for Obama cover. Nothing more. Nothing less.
When is that cesspool of Muslim filth intending to apologize to US for the THOUSANDS of Americans that have died at THEIR hands?
Santorum is a gutless fool. Just STFU, Ricky.
Has the United States officially apologized for the Fort Hood Massacre?
The headline makes it sound as though Santorum thinks all Americans should apologize for the shootings. I don’t think thats what he said.
I say we owe our troops an apology for sending them to war with their hands tied and not allowed to do their job, i.e. WIN.
Indeed. If it is as reported, this man was part of our uniform and represented our country. For that we do owe FOR ONCE an actual apology because our military has to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for this act.
I don’t think anybody should be talking about the prospect of apologies until the facts of the case are laid clear.
Agreed.
Idiot!!Best left not commented on, go Newt!
Deal breaker. And btw, CNN and NPR have the whole thing figured out and have convicted a US soldier. Unfortunately for them, the stories are different.

Did Hasan kill any foreign nationals here representing their countries?
This sergeant was representing us. We own whomever he killed and their affiliate country an apology. This is why the military has a severe hierarchy. They have to take the blame for anything their subordinates do.
Well, a few around here don’t care about what he actually said.
Why care about the facts when bashing is more fun?
Gingrich has publically commented on this event a couple of times.
I don’t care who likes it, these killings were a really bad thing. We can’t justify killing civilians in their beds any more than we feel that they’re justified in killing us the same way.
