ORLANDO, Fla. -- Former U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson crashed into a Lynx bus in downtown Orlando about noon Saturday.
Grayson was traveling to an upscale fundraising event for his Congressional campaign.
Authorities with the Orlando Police Department said the crash happened at Orange Avenue and Livingston Street.
Investigators said Grayson was driving a Mercedes, when he ran a red light and hit the bus.
Police and a campaign representative said Grayson and his passenger were not hurt. Two people aboard the bus claimed they suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.
Authorities said the crash is under investigation, and it’s not known yet what type of citation or charges may be filed.
A news release for Grayson’s campaign event stated it was scheduled from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the penthouse of some local Democrats in The Vue, a high-rise condominium near Lake Eola.
The Orlando Police Department website stated the time of the call to the incident was 12:08 p.m. The Orlando Fire Department dispatched the call at 12:06 p.m.
Featured guests included noted environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and actress Cheryl Hines. The suggested contribution for those attending was $1,000.
A Grayson campaign representative said news coverage of the event was not permitted, and no photos, video or information on the event would be provided.
Grayson defeated former Orlando Rep. Ric Keller in the 2008 election, and he served one term in Congress. Daniel Webster defeated Grayson in the 2010 election. Grayson is running again this year.
Grayson is running in a new safely DemocRAT district.

I bet those minor injuries will turn into major injuries as soon as the injured figure out it was a Mercedes driving politician that caused the accident......wait, George Soros will pay them off.....
For those on the bus that were injured, my sympathy. For that wretch of a man, Grayson, I just cannot muster any sympathy.

Questioned by police and firemen, Grayson replied, “Do you know who I am? Now, get out of my way! I’m late, for a very important date.”
The nutjob likely will sue the bus company.

And why in the world is he driving a gas guzzling mercedes? He probably a few people today just with his gross carbon footprint.

This isn’t the first “run in” Grayson has had with Lynx. Grayson made an odd request for the Lynx Building that housed his district office, to install four-foot-high neon letters on the building that spell out his last name. Lynx refused. So finally, after two years of seething over this insult, nutty Grayson got his revenge by t-boning one of Lynx’s buses.
Perhaps he can get his buddy Charles Schumer to defend him by saying something crazy like “Since the accident happened around noon it was acceptable that Grayson ran the red light. “
