One day after a new jobs report suggested that the countrys sluggish recovery may at last be getting off the ground, former senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) on Saturday gave his strongest indication yet that he is pivoting away from economic issues and seeking to make inroads among voters on foreign policy and the issue of health care.
...You hear now the media starting to say, oh well, looks like the economy is getting better, Santorum told supporters Saturday night in Springfield, Mo., shortly after the Associated Press declared him the winner of the Kansas caucuses. You know, the economy may be getting better and Republicans may lose their edge on that issue. Well, if that was the only issue in this race, that may or may not be the case, we dont know.
He added that the point is thats the point -- we dont know what the big issue of the day is going to be when it comes to national security. It may be the dominant issue, national security with Iran on the precipice of getting a nuclear weapon, Israel feeling increasingly isolated by this administration.
...The issue may not be jobs and the economy, he told the crowd. It may be something more fundamentally important: Having someone who stood up for something called freedom.
...I may not have been a Wall Street private-equity-fund manager, but I served eight years on the Armed Services Committee, Santorum said Saturday. I led the charge identifying Irans nuclear program nine years ago, authored bills to put sanctions to stop it. Were not electing a CEO. Were electing a commander-in-chief, and theres one person who has experience doing that......

Btw, what recovery? If a Republican were President today we would be hearing a different story.
If the economy improves, all the other candidates would be following Santorum’s lead. Once again, they arrive at their conservative positions conveniently late.

It’s Twue! It’s Twue! LOL!
Housing. We were blessed when we sold our 20 yr old house in FL in September and actually sold it for more than we owed. Now we bought a 4 year old house in NV 1 and a half times bigger than the one in FL for 50% less than it sold for 4 years ago. Truly blessed.
What makes it sad is they all fall it.
His potential to be dangerous lies solely in his potential to lose to Obama. I believe he'd do even worse against Obama than the 60-40 results when he lost to Bob Casey in 2006.
Romney would lose like Dukakis, but Rick Santorum would lose like Mondale.
Here in PA he would most certainly lose, and depress the vote too. By the end of September most of us would be too embarrassed to plant yard signs.
I know this will irritate the Ricksters here, but I'm baffled at his support from delusional conservatives who ought to know better.
