While driving my Ford Explorer I got hit by a SEPTA bus in Philly. It was a rainy, gloomy, cold night in Narch during evening rush hour. The Explorer was wrecked and the bus not even scratched. But, of course, the cops came and man, did I get some evil looks from the urbanites as they came off that bus to find other transportation as the cop took the reports from me and the bus driver. That bus was full.
A month later I got a notice in the mail I was being sued... by the bus driver, who claimed a head bump or something.
Weird. Who would have thought this guy was a phoney?
Driving in Philthy is a contact sport. I actually have a car just for driving down there. A ‘90 Fleetwood with fenders that look like I use them. I hope you made it out of the suit alright.
Poetry
Anybody wonder if some of the passengers were
riding the bus because Grayson’s political
party of choice is encouraging higher and
higher gas prices?
I do.
I know a schoolteacher in FL who taught his kids. Said they were complete brats. Also said they were extremely bright.
I handed it off to the insurance company and never heard another word about it. By the way, the letter I received notifying me about the suit was from some woman lawyer named “Deborah” something, and it said she was a member of the D.C. bar.
It was a scam all the way, but if the insurance company settles with scum like that, that’s their problem.
Frankly, I was impressed that not a single other person on that bus sued.
I laughed when I saw the bus driver was suing. After the accident I stood there talking with the dude. He said, “Yeah, I thought I must have hit something when the bus jerked a little bit.” Believe me, the accident was like a cinder block plowing into an egg carton.
PRECISELY!
Your screen name is perfect for the posting of this article!
That is karma for you.
“Glad no one hurt.”
From the video it would appear that two of the bus’ passengers went to the hospital. But it is too bad that Grayson is still above room temp. We can only hope that one of the PE lawyers hooks one of the injured and sues. Better still if both sue!
His union probably advised him to sue.
And if that didn’t work, he could always claim workman’s comp for the time off he took faking his injury.
A win-win for him.
Poetry in motion. Coudn’t happen to a nicer guy.
WESH update ...
ORLANDO, Fla. — Former U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson crashed into a Lynx bus in downtown Orlando about noon Saturday.
Grayson was traveling to an upscale fundraising event for his Congressional campaign.
Authorities with the Orlando Police Department said the crash happened at Orange Avenue and Livingston Street.
Investigators said Grayson was driving a Mercedes, when he ran a red light and hit the bus.
Police and a campaign representative said Grayson and his passenger were not hurt. Two people aboard the bus claimed they suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.
Authorities said the crash is under investigation, and its not known yet what type of citation or charges may be filed.
A news release for Graysons campaign event stated it was scheduled from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the penthouse of some local Democrats in The Vue, a high-rise condominium near Lake Eola.
The Orlando Police Department website stated the time of the call to the incident was 12:08 p.m. The Orlando Fire Department dispatched the call at 12:06 p.m.
Featured guests included noted environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and actress Cheryl Hines. The suggested contribution for those attending was $1,000.
A Grayson campaign representative said news coverage of the event was not permitted, and no photos, video or information on the event would be provided.
Grayson defeated former Orlando Rep. Ric Keller in the 2008 election, and he served one term in Congress. Daniel Webster defeated Grayson in the 2010 election. Grayson is running again this year.

His Wikipedia bio doesnn’t have anything about the accident yet. It does say that his district (after redistricting) is 42% Hispanic. So far he is the only Democrat running—but might be in trouble if a Hispanic Democrat decided to run. It doesn’t say how many of those Hispanics are Cuban-Americans and how many are of other backgrounds which are more supportive of the Democrats.
They are probably 95% Puerto Rican (NewYorican).
