I handed it off to the insurance company and never heard another word about it. By the way, the letter I received notifying me about the suit was from some woman lawyer named “Deborah” something, and it said she was a member of the D.C. bar.

It was a scam all the way, but if the insurance company settles with scum like that, that’s their problem.

Frankly, I was impressed that not a single other person on that bus sued.
I laughed when I saw the bus driver was suing. After the accident I stood there talking with the dude. He said, “Yeah, I thought I must have hit something when the bus jerked a little bit.” Believe me, the accident was like a cinder block plowing into an egg carton.

His union probably advised him to sue.

And if that didn’t work, he could always claim workman’s comp for the time off he took faking his injury.

A win-win for him.
