Article reports that Obama’s mother attend uber liberal Unitarian churches in Honolulu and Mercer Island that were basically communist. This contradicts Dreams of My Father in which Obama lies and says that his family never affiliated with any denomination.

I don't know if those two statements are mutually exclusive.
The Unitarians don't believe in anything. So being a member of a denomination that doesn't believe in anything is like not being a member of a denomination.

I just know the high holy days for Unitarians are the Sundays right before an election. Their “church” is next door to mine and their parking lots (and all up and down the surrounding streets) are packed on the Sundays before elections. Otherwise, their parking lot is half-full on Sundays. I think they’re religion is purely based on political fervor.
