It might be one of the biggest issues in the upcoming presidential election. Last night, CBS News exit polls found 77 percent of those voting in seven Super Tuesday states say rising gas prices were an important factor in their vote.
The poll reflects growing consumer anxiety as gas prices have risen nearly 50 cents a gallon in just over two months.
Consumers have been telling us they are cutting corners because for most driving is a necessity.
In Minnesota the average price is 3-58. The current national average for a gallon of regular is 3-76, but some analysts are predicting that gas could rise to $5 by the summer.

It’s the economy, stupid!
Obama is a one-term wonder. Even a polished rock could beat him. So Romney is not a sure thing as he is dumber than a polished rock, but I’m thinking even Romney can’t lose to Obama in this economic depression.
I would like to see $15 per gallon gas. I would like to see gas so cripplingly high that every Democrat in the nation could be instantly shut up by a quick “Remember gas prices under the LAST Democrat president?”
Crippling. I’m begging for shut-down-nation levels of gas prices. Short term pain = loooooong term gain.
IT AIN’T JUST GAS PRICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We need to remind the sheeple that EVERYTHING you buy costs more BECAUSE of gas prices
You buy groceries?
How do you think that food GOT there?
It was TRUCKED in.
You buy clothes? You buy ANYTHING?
If you bought it, a truck brought it.
Truckers/Trucking companies pay more for gas. that gets passed to the shippers.
The shipper pass it back to the companies shipping their food, clothes, etc.
GET IT.
Noticed how much more food and stuff costs?
It’s directly ties to gas prices...
And for those of you in winter climates - had fun filling your tank this winter?
You think the “gas prices” has got folks attention?
Remind ‘em EVERYTHING is going up because of gas prices...
People are more apt to vote their pocketbook over other considerations.
Remind everyone - post it often - email - get to Newt and remind HIM to include it in his speeches.
We don't have to 'follow the money' we need to 'follow the bias' of the MSM... They're pushing it and sure as hell isn't because they either give a damn - or that they're helping us.
Watch and see... the price will go down - and the Democrat-Media Complex will fawn over their hero.
“Then higher is better. Let oil prices fly.”
Sounds like “let them eat cake” to me.
We know how things ended up for the lady that spoke it....
Be careful what you wish for.
You may indeed get it.
And perhaps some other consequences that you hadn’t the wisdom to foresee....
I moved into a huge house in Quogue, L.I. Fuel was $0.29/gallon in 1972. The next year it was $1.79/gal. By 1980, it was $3.00+/gal.
Now, I have a gas lease and an oil well on my land.
Our country is replete with job-producing and money-making opportunities.
For me, it’s repealing Obamacare.
Much higher oil prices are going to happen anyway. So will the default. I didn’t ask for it. The more favored bipartisan constituents are asking for it and more (see Iran and company). But the smaller government (after default), peace, quiet and resurgence of morality ahead do look good. Don’t need much gas, other fuel, food or durable goods. I’m technically inclined, productive and always have been.

Ditto that. Also follow the DOW, I have bets that it will never go bellow 12k until after the election. It’s much higher than it should be in the present economy. Gold will tank as well after Novermber.
