Newt Gingrich is canceling campaign events scheduled for Kansas at the end of the week to shore up support in the Deep South. The former House speaker plans to pour his time and resources into Alabama and Mississippi.
Everything between Spartanburg all the way to Texas, those all need to go for Gingrich, said campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond.
The candidates bus, his rallies and campaign events will be trained on a southern strategy...
Campaign aides also brushed off suggestions by supporters of Rick Santorum that Gingrich drop out...
All of the logic being used by the Santorum campaign is simply reversed and it could be used on Rick Santorum, Hammond said. Well argue, Santorum is splitting Mitt Romneys moderate vote.
The GOP primary will go on for many more months, Hammond said. Well stick in the race.
In a radio interview Wednesday morning, Gingrich himself made clear that he has no plans to get out of the Republican primary, allowing Santorum to face Romney in a head-to-head match up.
If I thought he was a slam dunk to beat Romney and to beat Obama, I would really consider getting out. I dont, Gingrich said on Bill Bennetts Morning in America radio show Wednesday. I think each of the three candidates has strengths and weaknesses and that this is a very healthy vetting process.
Gingrich described himself as a tortoise moving slowly but steadily toward the nomination as he hailed his victory in Georgia on Super Tuesday.
Gingrich was greeted in Montgomery by an enthusiastic crowd in the downtown Renaissance Hotel, where a banner hung reading Promise of a Newt Day. ...
Gingrich looks at the Republican strongholds of Alabama and Mississippi as Gingrich country places where you can sniff out what a conservative is, Hammond said.

“Rick wants my vote? Easy. Instead, of begging Newt to drop, challenge Newt one on one to a debate on ideas and the course of America if Rick wins, Ill switch my vote.”
Exactly...
All we can do is keep praying. I would love to meet your cherished mom!
She would love that too. Heck I would love to meet you. That will happen one day even if I have to drive down to Mississippi to a FR event. I will even haul the family. It would be a great vacation. I was stationed in Meridian for awhile. What a beautiful state. I love it.
Is the bus real or photoshopped.
You can never tell these days.

If we want to stop Romney, we have to give up supporting Newt.
Voting for Newt now means dying on Newt Hill and getting Romney.
Since Santorum has debated Gingrich many times, it won’t do anything. Newt will of course win the debate because he is the best debater. Of course Newt wants another 1.5 hours shining. He LOVES to shine.
But it won’t change the votes, so Romney can spend that evening in the tanning bed, and still win the nom.
People know Newt wins debates. It doesn’t matter. He still can’t get the votes.
GO NEWT! There is a good reason to stay in, and Sarah Palin just pointed out why.
Even if Newt drops out today, there is no way for Santorum to win. It is just not possible with the remaining states and the nature of how they award delegates. Besides you are still assuming that if Newt does drop out, 100% of his votes will to to Santorum. That is simply not true. Over half would likely go to Romney and Paul also.
This is a long forgotten fact that Santorum supporters refused to understand, when they were told about it months ago. But they jumped in with both feet in spite of it.
I’m not unaware.
Santorum has a better chance of winning than Newt. I don’t see any way Newt can win. I doubt many Gingrich supporters will rush to Romney’s side. Paul should drop out, too.

But they can both have more power and effect to cause a brokered convention, if they both stay in. Sarah Palin has a plan if this happens, and Newt is part of it. So Newt will do as he said he would, stay in all the way to the convention. Even Ron Paul is helping keep Romney down and will do the same.
Mississippi.

Newt does have the best chance in the comparison you gave.
I see a brokered convention, if this keeps up. GO NEWT!
Best news that I have heard today!

Newt is not going anywhere. :-)
Newt actually has a better chance between the two.
Wouldn’t live anywhere else! :-)

Thanks! I don’t mean to be nosy, just curious. :)
How does it look for Newt where you are?
He wins there or he's done.
Rick, should challenge Newt to a one-on-one debate based on his ideas and visions for the conservative movement.
I completely agree!
His only point now is to nominate Romney. He’s a smart man, and he knows that it’s OVER for him. This ostensible “strategy” is preposterous, and it’s clear now that he’s all about himself, and his position in the Romney campaign. Just like Ron Paul. Screw him! Bob
A brokered convention will only happen if Newt departs, and lets Santorum face the Liberal Liar Romney one-on-one. Mitt is praying for Newt to stay in, or maybe *paying* him. Bob
