Rally for Rush (Carbonite CEO tied to MoveOn.org: time for conservatives to fight blacklisting?)
The American Spectator ^ | March 5, 2012 | Jeffery Lord

Posted on 03/05/2012 3:25:36 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

................• Carbonite: OK. Now we'll talk Carbonite. And about Mr. McLaughlin of Sleep Number. And two of the co-founders of Legal Zoom.

Carbonite's statement was especially and curiously unctuous, its withdrawal of sponsorship coming as it did after Rush's apology. Here is Carbonite's CEO David Friend:

...Now. Carbonite really deserves some special attention......................

MoveOn.org, America Coming Together and Democracy for America, all three listed here as George Soros funded groups, the latter set up by Howard Dean. Texans for Truth also drew Mr. Friend's support. This group, according to Wikipedia, was set up by MoveOn.org spin-off Drive Democracy.org in 2004. Why? To… wait for it… challenge then-President Bush's service in the Texas National Guard. The precise same stunt for which CBS fired Dan Rather after documents were discovered to have been forged. The Bush-Cheney campaign said of Texans for Truth that it was "a smear group launching baseless attacks on behalf of John Kerry's campaign that will be rejected by the American people." They were. But that didn't quench Mr. Friend's affection for either the smear campaign or supporting leftist candidates such as Howard Dean, and John Kerry.

And get a load of this. Take a look right here at Ed "Laura Ingraham is a slut" Schultz's site for his radio show. Who is listed as a Schultz sponsor? That's right: Carbonite. Like Rush Limbaugh, Ed Schultz apologized. The difference? If Rush uses the word "slut" to illustrate the absurdity of the left-wing Sandra Fluke's views -- David Friend is outraged. But when Ed Schultz refers in hostile fashion out of the blue to conservative and Catholic Laura Ingraham as a "slut" -- hey, no big deal for Carbonite......

SteelYourFaith, please see my comment in #104, if you have not already.

I would be suspicious of ANY company that “backs up” your computer on their own servers. It’s not that we have anything to hide, but data mining by the government is very real, and we don’t know who is ultimately behind these back-up services.

Although a bit of a hassle, backing your own computers up on external hard drives, thumb drives and all is a good idea—not that “they” can’t see everything we do on the Internet as it is, but it’s one less way to give “them” an open book into our computers. Just a thought...

"but Robert Whoozits is still around, making commercials for Legal Zoom"

Thanks Gina. I had not considered that possibility, yet all I have on that particular dedicated office computer is digital radiographs and no other information.

I'm so over this tactic of the left. The thread article is very informative and useful for becoming a counter-consumer-activist for freedom. We out number the left 2-to-1. We need to flex our muscle.

I cancelled my Carbonite via email.

I tried to call them at 877-665-4466 and all circuits are busy!

I’m demanding a refund.

Thank you for this post. The game, as Shakespeare wrote in Henry IV, is afoot.

Let me throw some names at you, Lou Dobbs, Don Imus, Pat Buchanen, Glenn Beck, and now Rush Limbaugh. What these people all have in common is that they are being targeted by the left to silence them. We need to stand up and defend this injustice. We need to show them what has been proven as fact....that we are the majority.

I also am upset that Rush apologized.

I personally will boycott each & every advertiser, service, product that is connected to those who are dropping Rush’s show.

I should buy a new mattress, but Sleep Train can KMA.

When I have to send flowers for a funeral, it won’t be with ProFlowersthey can KMA, also. The woman(?) in question IS a tramp.

She lied about her age.

She deliberately enrolled at a Jesuit Catholic University to then challenge their position on birth control.

She has completely mis-stated the cost of birth control pills for a 3 year period. Since Target sells them w/o prescription or co-pay for about $8 a month, the cost is only about $300 for 36 months.

She is a total embarassment to women of this country.

What’s next? Viagra is free to men? Kotex & Tampons are free? How about FREE Victoria’s Secret underwear?????
Depends are free to both genders?

I am sick to death of the Nanny State & those who think MY tax dollars should support their hedonistic life style.

I have been using Carbonite at my office to back up radiographs. Before I drop Carbonite I need to research the alternatives

After reading a review a couple years ago on zdnet, I started using crashplan ( crashplan.com ). Great backup options, including off line backup on their servers, and the ability to backup your files on a friends computer. All encrypted, of course. No regrets.

I emailed Carbonite last night cancelling my subscription. Anyone have a recommendation for a good Mac backup

crashplan.com . Works with Mac, also. See above reply for more.

We need to go further than just confronting Rush's sponsors. We need to target advertisers for some of these left wing media outlets. Bill Maher, Daily Kos, Ed Schultz, and Rachel Maddow, and Media Matters come to mind. Let's play their game for a while.

re: viagara.

I believe catholic institutions can choose to cover viagara.
Why?
ED is a health problem that interferes with a man’s fertility.

The NAGs are so full of penis envy, that they equate the two as a simple “him vs her” issue.

Viagara helps a man with ED resume normal activities, and restores his fertility.

Contraception removes a woman’s fertility and neither adds or subtracts from her ability to participate in sex.

Whoa! Doing some research on Carbonite.

Sounds like a piss poor product.

http://www.customerservicescoreboard.com/Carbonite

“After 6 months of backups I had a computer failure. The back up from Carbonite worked like magic. Then I had another failure about 3 months later. When I went to restore there was nothing. 2 years of valuable business data vaporized. It turns out that the system was not backing up anything more than some empty files that Carbonite could not explain. For three months the system was backing up nothing and I got no warning. NONE. If you use the system you better double check what is being backed up.”

This is exactly what I have used for years - I do it manually once a week. You do not need on on line backup subscription - it only takes a little of your time to make a backup set. Maybe there are even local applications out there that will do it in the background and not require your effort.

Or hire a good detective to find the thief carting off the computer H/W.
