GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has pulled into a tie with rival Rick Santorum in Ohio, a new poll finds.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Sunday shows Romney and Santorum tied with 32 percent support from likely GOP voters in Ohio, two days ahead of that state's crucial Republican primary.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich follows with 17 percent support, trailed by Rep. Ron Paul (Texas) at 6 percent.

Totally insane. Gingrich people are being asked to give their votes to Santorum. Understand why Santorum is still in the race, it as nothing to do with his message...........the Obama democrats, unions, and activist groups, where they can, are voting for him in droves. Why? They know he is a weak candidate full of holes. The moderates and independents WILL NEVER support him. He will implode in the general. Ask yourself this.......why aren’t these groups throwing primary votes to Gingrich. LOL
Sort of like Michigan right?
I agree Romney would probably lose to Obama, but my guess is he would lose narrowly and not cost us too badly down ballot.
Sorry, but Santorum is just an awful candidate. A good man who would make a disaster of a general election nominee. We will lose in a landslide if this campaign is on social issues rather than the economy, and with Santorum the election will end up turning on whether contraception is "not okay", or women should have more babies, or porn should be further regulated, etc. It would be one thing if Santorum were recognized primarily as a bold economic thinker or reformer, but he is not. Face it, Santorum is a culture warrior. It's what he is known for, it's pretty much all he is known for, and it is what he speaks about with the most passion and conviction. That sort of candidate is a recipe for utter defeat this time around. Obama wants to avoid talking about his economic failures, and Santorum would provide him all the cover he needed to do just that.
Of the 4 Republican candidates in the race, I see Newt at the only real option. He is controversial and might end up losing to Obama too, but at least Newt's speaking skills, depth of knowledge and willingness to take on the establishment media gives us a chance to change the dynamic and win. Newt and Paul are the only two "gamechanger" candidates, and Paul is unacceptable to me due to his loopy foreign and defense policy positions.

All that simply cannot be a reply to my post 16.
The momentum has shifted, which will be succinctly revealed on Tuesday. You might prepare yourself for the possibility of Newt moving ahead of Santorum when it all settles.
Most all of the polls reveal a shift in Newt's favor. While Romney is still stagnant.
Surveys among them, are overwhelming. The are absolutely hoping that Santorum will win, because he will be the easiest to defeat. But more importantly, Santorum will rile up the Democrat base to come out in record numbers.
This is NOT supposition on my part people, this is from actual and factual surveys coming from the Left.
One more point. The Left is terrified of the possibility of Newt going up against Obama. They just don't know how to counter his razor sharp intellect, or ability to appeal to most people's common sense way of thinking.
We need to get behind Newt immediately and put an end to this Santorum insanity.
Rather than being a testament to the "rightness" of Rick, it's more a testament of the sorry minds of the voters. Always settling for the one that "common knowledge" says is the most electable due to the "ability" to be more moderate is how we got into this sorry state.
But you are saying that those who are voting against Mitt Romney are either “moderate” or of “sorry minds.”
Curious concept-and one that can't be addressed in full until GOP nominee Rick Santorum goes up against the Leftists in the Obama campaign who invented it.
If Santorum had won in Michigan, Ohio would have put him in the driver’s seat. Now the situation is reversed. If Mitt Romney wins the Ohio primary, he’s more likely than not to be the nominee.
Gawd I hope Newt drops out soon and endorses Rick or we all may be doomed to the dictatorship of the KKKK aka the Kenyan Kommie's Kommie Kid!
Gingrich needs to get out now and endorse Santorum. This insanity needs to end.
I agree Romney would probably lose to Obama, but my guess is he would lose narrowly and not cost us too badly down ballot. That Romney is a loser is beyond rational dispute. A far bigger problem is if Romney actually wins as this is the same progressive nutcase rube who gave the U.S. the policy precedent for ObamaCare, viz.: RomneyCare, with all its new rules, new taxes, its state supervision of the private sector in the form of mandates and exchanges, and its assumptions about the use of the coercive power of the state to support progressive goals like universal coverage.
I don’t follow that logic.
Thank you, Guenevere.
I too am disgusted by the anti Rick vitriol from some Freepers and it makes me wonder what unrest these people have in their own lives that they feel the need to anonymously!!!(keyword) unleash such vicious and undeserving comments on another Conservative.
All of these GOP contenders deserve our respect, minus Mittens of course, who isn’t a Conservative or a Republican and shouldn’t be running as one.
Newt and Santorum together are the only hope to put up roadblocks for the Rombo machine.
They are both worthy in their own way and have different strengths to attract voters.
They should have our support and encouragement.
Alas, it might be too little too late, however.
A Mittens victory for the nomination is looking more and more likely, unfortunately.
If Santorum loses Ohio, for those of you who constantly bash him, I hope you’re proud of yourselves. You all make me sick. And you Newt fans think that Newt would agree with your Saul Alinsky tactics, it’s doubtful that he would approve. That’s not the kind of man he is.
Thanks for standing up for Rick and for the truth, Guenevere. And you better not get zotted for speaking your truth!
I’m with you!!
Oh Psycho-Freep, Your 45 page rant against Santorum is so impressive. Course most of us don’t have time to read it cuz:
A. We don’t care what you have to say.
or
B. We don’t care what you have to say.
Why don’t you channel your obsession against Rick into something positive for a change? And I wonder who much you contribute to FR for the honor of being one of the nastiest poster of all times.
Dear PSYCHO-FREEP,
I would like to read your 45 page rant.
Sincerely,
TiC
Nice try to blame for it though.......
Both he and the mormon are degenerates.
You do know the reason why the Founders didn’t put a right to vote in the Constitution, right?
I haven’t been polled, but, this is one Ohio voter who won’t be casting the ballot for Romney on Tuesday. I haven’t decided yet who I’ll vote for though - I’m fine with either Newt or Santorum. In many ways, I prefer Newt because of his ideas and ability to say it like it is - but, I fear women voters hold his 3 marriages against him. (I’m a female by the way, and that isn’t an issue for me). So, please help me out - I just don’t know who I’ll vote for. I want someone who can beat bozo - can Newt win in the general? I’m not sure. Recent polling has Santorum within 2 of the Kenyan. Decisions, decisions, decisions!
