Do you want him to lose all his sponsors over one stupid word? He is not a coward— he did it for his listener. He is smart enough not to cut off his nose to spite his face.
Speech may be free but someone has to pay the bills for the network.
No sponsors = no broadcast = no (or severly muted) speech.
