At least five US military personnel could face a disciplinary review following the burning of copies of the Qur'an by American soldiers in Afghanistan.
A joint investigation by senior Afghan and US military officials has concluded that although mistakes were made when troops at Bagram airbase, near Kabul, had burned copies of the Qur'an and other religious literature along with piles of waste paper, there was no intent to desecrate the Islamic religious texts.
A western official said the investigation could lead to a disciplinary review of at least five US military personnel involved.
But a different panel appointed by the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, to investigate the incident, has concluded that the burning of the holy books was deliberate.

They may convene an Articly 32 Hearing for “Show”, but nothing will come from it.
I don’r agree that their careers are toast or that they will be reprimanded. There most likely will be an article 32 hearing, but that is just for political cover. The hearing will find that no violation of the UCMJ was committed and the case will be closed without prejudice.
Shiite always runs down hill.
I’m going to start celebrating diversity with a weekly TGIF koran-a-que.
It ain’t illegal to burn a “Holy” Queeran unless we are under Sharia Law and nobody told us.
He si siding with those he has so much in common. He is a Cummunist and a socialist that has only one agenda. To bring this country to its’ knees.
I would like to see us get our people out of this literally God-forsaken country and destroy the poppy fields in a way that nothing would grow there for a hundred years.
The military (AF anyway) just got a survey on the effects of the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell (DADT). While the effects on the avearge warrior are nil so far (not enough time for the real effects to become obvious, and the survey was probably timed with this in mind), issues like punishing our warrior heroes for doing their duty is having a real demoralizing effect. $hit rolls downhill and Obam has even a bigger supply of it than Clinton did as CinC.
What a way to screw the troops. Get assigned a shit detail to burn trash and get brought up on charges because of Koranimal ravings.
I hope you’re right, but these are different times we’re living in. When I was in, it was called a “one mistake” Air Force for a reason. Now a days, offending Muslims in any way is the sin of sins.
How many more times is our military going to be kicked in the teeth by Hussein?
“Id pin a Bronze Star on each one of them for eliminating the how-to manual for a 7th Century death cult.”
Indeed! Were not these books in question defiled by the Muslim’s that were gifted with receiving them?
What am I missing? My American values do not recognize any parity in Obama’s worldview.
This whole event has outraged me to no end!
Scape goats located to cover the a$$es of the bungling incompetents in charge. I feel sorry for those 5 soldiers who are going to get screwed.
What does Shariah say about the penalty for desecrating the holy Quaran? Death, you say? Well, maybe it is time we started beheading the prisoners for desecrating their holy Qurans.
Live by the sword,...
