Thanks Romney and GOP-E. No doubt they would rather see Obama re-elected than a conservative.

The German General Staff thought the same thing. It’s a matter of historical record. They thought that they could control Hitler. Didn’t turn out that way though.

If Republicans keep control of the House and win the senate, they will take the WH also....Has it ever happened where a party takes over a chamber in a presidential year and not win the white house?

What good is controlling Congress when Obama goes around them using his czars and federal agencies while Congress sits by doing nothing about it?

Obama MUST be defeated, as he’s demonstrated his contempt of Congress and the Constitution, by means of his various end runs, edicts, and czar appointments, which flout the will of Congress and the Constitution.

If Obama actually respected the Constitutional separation of powers, this argument would be valid. As it is, he’s already shown he will happily run roughshod over it and the Republicans don’t have the backbone to stop him.

They got the House in 2010. How’d that debt ceiling thing go? How about that stupid payroll tax cut? How about...I know it's only one half of one third, blah, blah, blah.

The truth is, Will doesn't want our kind of conservative in the White House. To a Beltway Republican, the thought of some rube like Santorum as President leaves them in shivers.

Fortunately, the great mass of Americans will ignore this defeatist screed.

I’m just glad this nonsense was written by a guy who lost his credibility years ago.

Has George never heard of down ticket voting? If he truly believes nobody would show up to vote for a president, well they won’t be there to vote for their congressman either.

Its looking increasingly likely that I’ll go to the polls to vote in the downticket races only.

Please go away, George. A real conservative at the top of the ticket could sweep both bodies.

Didn’t Michael Steele two years ago say there was no reasonable expectation of taking the House, either?

Believing in yourself is a huge part of winning. The mindset should be a bit Muhammad Ali-like. Predict a big win and act extremely confident. If you don't win, you deal with it, but it doesn't help even a little to play the ‘defeated pragmatist’ card.

These are the same pundits who thought Hillary and Giuliani would be pitted against each other in the 2008 race. We haven't had a blow-out presidential election in quite a while. This will be no different. A few percentage points on either side will make the difference, and it is way too early to make the kind of comments Will is making.

many polls have shown Obama losing different candidates, and gas prices are just rising. What’s he thinking?

I haven’t been able to figure out where Will is coming from for some time. He was a big backer of Gov. Daniels who decided not to run. He was also an early backer of Gov. Pawlenty. His wife worked on the campaign of the Gov. of Texas (And we saw how that worked out). He doesn’t seem to like any of the current candidates, so I guess he has just thrown in the towel.
