Pelosi: Limbaugh's 'vicious attacks' on student uncivilized By Mike Lillis - 02/29/12 08:23 PM ET
House Democrats went after Rush Limbaugh Wednesday for his attacks on a university student who recently testified before Congress on women's reproductive health.
Limbaugh on Wednesday called Georgetown Law Center student Sandra Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute" for her support of the Obama administration's new birth-control mandate.
Behind House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the Democrats said Limbaugh's remarks were uncivilized and misogynistic. They're asking Republican leaders to denounce the popular conservative radio host.
Limbaugh's attacks, the Democrats said, "are outside the circle of civilized discussion and unmask the strong disrespect for women held by some in this country."
"We call upon the Republican leaders in the House to condemn these vicious attacks on Ms. Fluke, which are in response to her testimony to the Congress," they added.
Aside from Pelosi, Democratic Reps. Louise Slaughter (N.Y.), Rosa DeLauro (Conn.), Carolyn Maloney (N.Y.), Elijah Cummings (Md.) and Diana DeGette (Col.) as well as Del. Eleanor Holmes-Norton (D.C.) endorsed the message.
Fluke has become something of an unwitting celebrity on Capitol Hill this month after Republicans on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee denied the Democrats' request to have her testify on Obama's new birth control mandate. Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) argued that the policy concerns religious freedom, not reproductive health.
Democrats pounced, hoping to portray the Republicans as out-of-touch with women's healthcare needs. To highlight the saga, Democratic leaders had Fluke discuss the issue last week before the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.
That testimony led Limbaugh to claim Wednesday that Fluke "wants to be paid to have sex."
"What does it say about the college co-ed Susan [sic] Fluke who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? What does that make her?" Limbaugh asked. "It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute.
"She wants to be paid to have sex," he added. "Shes having so much sex she cant afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex."
Pelosi and the Democrats are hoping such statements from conservatives will help them with Independent voters particularly women in November.
"Democrats will always stand up for womens health and womens voices, their statement concludes.
If the student is stupid enough to put herself in the limelight, then she is an open target for ridicule. And Limbaugh is right!
Go get ‘em, Rush!
Is this the issue were we are being lied to. The one about it cost these students $3,000 per year for contraceptives and they are going broke from the cost yet a pharmacy right down the road from the college has them for $9.00 per month? Is so the vicious part is the lying to Americans!
Who'd want to have sex with any of these scags?
this woman can take a hike. What is she 90, now?
How is one supposed to respect a woman who needs $3000 per year for contraceptives and wants someone else to pay for it? How many times a day does she have sex?
So the Witch is defending the whore.
Rush’s ratings are getting ready to sky rocket, and in an election year, that can’t be good for Dems.
Notice how they don’t actually argue with Rush’s logic... because they can’t.
Instead, they feign outrage.
“this woman can take a hike. What is she 90, now?”
Besides seeing BJ Clinton settle his sexual harassment lawsuit for $890K (it was about Paula, not Monica), watching Nancy Pelosi lose her House leadership position was one of my favorite political moments. Oh, and the emergence of former presidential candidate Jesse Jackson’s bastard after the 2000 election - priceless.
Regulate religious freedom.
Provide free sex tools to all americans
Regulate free speech and the press
Orchestrate federal propaganda
Mandate all private health insurance policy content
What is she 90, now? Actually she’s as old as the devil.
That was no student. I saw the photo. It was Sean Penn in drag.
The real question now, would seem to be, just what does that make mizz pillocy, and her cast of agreeing likeminds, who are reaching into the publics pockets to retrieve some loose change in support of something the public has no business supporting. Explain to me how college student life is all about such frequent sexual contact that my female/male health is at risk?
The previous question does not begin to address the issue regarding parental responsibility for children’s behavior.
The mere suggestion that the American people need to pay for a child’s irresponsible decisions, when the parents and child are at issue, is typical of the lengths progressives will go to completely bastardize an issue, turn reality on its head and deceive the American people while mounting the high ground in the process.
The proof of the pudding would be the defense turning themselves inside out, in explanation of why I should have to pay for extracurricular sexual activity on a college campus.
Give them aspirin-it’s cheaper.
Rush calculated that she has sex 2.7 times a day, every day, all year.
Or so she claims. To do that, she'd need fifty blind, non-condom-wearing boyfriends.
She's probably pestilential.
Any port in a storm...
while I read the transcript of this girl’s statements, my thoughts about her testimony were not all that different from Limbaugh’s.
I didn’t go so far as labelling her a prostitute, but she certainly portrayed herself as someone who was having SO MUCH SEX that the taxpayer was going to have to subsidize her activity.
Does that make me a misogynist?
Oh well...I suppose that’s better than being a liberal.
