The exit polls in Michigan and Arizona show a CLEAR swing to Newt Gingrich in the last day of voting. Good sign for Newt! This seems to indicate his strategy is working and getting his momentum back on the rise.

These are the Michigan numbers. This is talking about when the voter made their decision, not necessarily when they voted. On the last day, the vote swung against Santorum and towards both Romney and Newt and even 6% to "Uncommitted." Santorum's support utterly collapsed on the last day. He went from 55% in early February to 50% in the last few days to only 31% on the last day of voting. Romney went 31% to 32% in the last few days to 38% on the last day. Newt went from 7% to 3% in the last few days to a HUGE jump to 11% on the last day.

Meanwhile in the Arizona polls, it says 19% of the people who decided "in the last few days" went for Newt. When they separate out "just today" from that they wrote in "N/A," but the separated out "last few days" goes down to 15%. Using their totals for each section, that "just today" amount for Newt must have been a whopping 27% (but too small a sample for them to want to publish the number). And this is up from only 12% who decided for Newt in early February. This time Santorum stayed flat in the last day, but it looks like Romney dropped from 45% to only 30% in the last, benefitting Newt.

So to sum up, in Arizona, Newt went from 12% support recently to quite possibly 27% breaking for him on the last day of voting. In Michigan, Newt went from 3% support recently to 11% on the last day. So, again, out of the people who decided who their pick was on the last day of voting in Michigan and Arizona, Newt doubled or tripled his popularity.

Of all the candidates, Newt is a Tea Partier from way back! --1994--

House Minority Whip Gingrich and 7th District congressional candidate Brenda Fitzgerald throw mock tea crates into the Chattahoochee River on April 15, 1994, as part of a "Taxpayer's Tea party" in Roswell, Georgia.

TAX DAY 1994 - Politicians play with ire - Gingrich , others stage stunts touting frugality

As procrastinators put the finishing touches on their tax returns Friday, politicians across the nation carried out carefully crafted stunts aimed at landing the votes of irate taxpayers.

In Roswell, U.S. House Minority Whip Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) touted fiscal conservatism by staging a mock tea party on the banks of the Chattahoochee River . Conservative Republicans tossed empty produce crates into the river in symbolic re-enactment of the incident in Boston 221 years ago when colonists dressed as Indians dumped tea into the harbor in rebellion against the government.

More than 200 similar rallies occurred throughout the country, including Boston, San Francisco and Detroit , as candidates used the tax filing deadline as a forum for one-upsmanship on frugality.

“Americans literally work every day for months just to pay for a government that wastes their money,” said Gingrich , who is seeking re-election from the 6th district. “On the day taxes are due, we should remind you that you have every right as a citizen to protect yourself, your family and your wallet with your vote.”

And what people don't realize there is a good number of voters who say they can change their minds of how they will vote. Thank you for sharing.

Record of Accomplishment and New Imperative to Return America to that Shinning City on a Hill

Well......

That's where a record comes in. Not just the record of votes, which is often a meaningless toll of positions taken for political reasons on bills that were always going to pass or were never going to pass, but a record of actions taken that actually mattered.

A record of actions taken that actually mattered.  Newt is the man who fits that description to a "T".

He can identify what is most important to the country, develop a plan to overcome that challenge, articulate the the merits of overcoming the challenge and why the plan will work.

I hadn't been for Gingrich initially and spent plenty of energy excoriating him, these last several years, for any number of sins he committed against the Republican/Conservative ideals.  He seemed a turncoat of sorts, particularly when he babysat Pelosi on the couch.

On reflection, Newt is an attention whore seeking relevancy for his ideas and I guess I take him at his word that he made a few mistakes in his life and he has at least some regret for those decisions.  God knows I am no angel and so I have to reflect on the man's ability to get things done.

Newt gave us the Republican majority, the Contract with America and completed 2/3rds of his agenda while in office.

He now has a new plan for America and with what is likely to become a Congressional Super Majority and a Senate Majority, if not Super Majority, I believe he will absolutely accomplish his agenda.

Say goodbye to ObamaCare the single biggest scam and travesty foisted upon a free people who, by right, ought to have been given the opportunity to read the bill and debate it.  Instead, a win at all cost, cheating agenda was developed and it was signed with most people never laying eyes on at least page 2 of this utopian dreck.

Executive Orders Positions:

The following are all within the executive powers to simply order and with the exception of securing the border within one year, they are all easily accomplished with the stroke of a pen and no way to challenge them in the legislature.

Keystone may be challenged in the courts but I think the Executive can order the EPA to approve, under National Security Priorities and it is a National Security issue, as well, a jobs issue.

As President, Newt, could actually have a very busy 1st week or month just on these initiative alone.

1. Eliminate the thirty-nine White House "Czar" positions created during the current administration. The president does not have the authority to appoint bureaucrats to power who are not accountable to the Congress.

2. "Mexico City Policy" of Respect for Life. Reauthorize President Ronald Reagans policy also known as the "Mexico City Policy" to stop tax payer dollars from being used to fund or promote abortions in foreign countries.

3. Restore conscience clause protections for Healthcare Workers. No American working in a medical environment should be forced to perform any procedure that he or she finds morally or ethically objectionable based on religious teaching. This protection should include, but not be limited to abortion. Existing conscience clause protections need to be strengthened.

4. Respect Each Sovereign Nations Choice of its Capital. Each sovereign nation, under international law and custom, may designate its own Capital. Accordingly, the U.S. State Department should be instructed to respect the choice of each sovereign nation and place the American embassy in their Capital.  (Israel is the only country the United States discriminates against in this regard. The people of Israel have designated Jerusalem as their capital. Yet the United States retains its embassy in Tel Aviv.)

5. End the Attorney General's Assault on the States. Instruct the Attorney General to withdraw all immigration-related lawsuits against states immediately, including those pending in Arizona and South Carolina. The Obama Administration refuses to enforce federal immigration laws, and instead sues states who are merely trying to enforce the laws that the federal government neglects. The Gingrich Administration will secure the border by Jan. 1, 2014 by any means necessary.

6. The Keystone Pipeline

Unleash American Energy by Approving the Keystone XL Pipeline. Instruct the State Department to approve a Presidential Permit immediately for the Keystone XL pipeline, a project that will send 700,000 barrels of oil a day from Great Plains and Southwestern states to Gulf Coast refineries&

Does the 12% exit poll really mean anything when the primary is already over, votes counted, and he only got 6.5% of the vote?

I sure hope voters give Newt Gingrich another look. A politician’s track record while in office is the best indicator of their future performance. Newt Gingrich governed as a conservative, not a compassionate conservative or a centrist/moderate. I honestly think there’s only one person running who is capable of leading a Reagan style revolution in DC, and that person is Newt Gingrich. After all, he’s done it before. He can do it again.

I was definitely opposed to Newt Gingrich at the start, but then I heard he admits to his moral shortcomings. As someone who has had his own share of sin, I respect a person who can admit their mistakes. Then I started listening to Newt's speeches. If he was just any politician with a list of ideas, I wouldn't take him very seriously. We're all pretty much used to politicians who say one thing while campaigning and do completely different once in office. Newt, on the other hand, has offered plans before and actually acted on them when he had his chance. In other words, when he says he wants to reduce government and unleash the private sector, he's credible.

I support Newt as well.

I am glad Santorum got beat last night. I prefer Mitt to wittle wicky. That wasn’t true until wittle wicky explicitly invited Democrats into the Republican primary to corrupt the process. Despicable.

I hope Newt can come back. America needs him.

ROTFL. He got a freaking 6-7 percent of the vote.

Even lipstick can’t make that purty.

Newt was not even in play yesterday—he was fighting with RuPaul for last place in both MI and AZ.
Free Republic is owned by a Gingrich supporter and there are many Newt FReepers—some of whom are just plain nasty with their uncalled for smears of Rick Santorum—so I wasn't surprised that FR was down yesterday since the forum could have only hurt the former Speaker's chances...

...I just love me some conspiracy theories;)

Santorum desperate appeal to the Dems yesterday for votes, To me seemed like selling his moral soul for a shot at Power.

His defense will Mittens did it first only worsened the damage.

I think Santorum's appeal to his voters is his moral high ground this fell way short, this was more in the do or say anything for power.

IMHO

You only laugh if you mischaracterize what JediJones was pointing out.

He never said Newt would get 11 percent. He said exit polling showed Newt’s performance was improving as voting day came, and that very late deciders were going for Newt

Compare that to Newt’s registering only 3 percent in earlier polls, then you see that what JJ referenced is exactly what happened.

Everyone knows his vote percentage in MI was low. That wasn’t the point.

The same thing happened in AZ according to exit polls there. Late deciders upped Newt’s totals from what he had been polling earlier.

That’s a possible trend that could help in states where Newt actually has a chance and plans to focus his campaign.

Are you capable of getting this? It’s real simple.

Or do you get it, but feel you must pretend not to, in order to attack the messenger and message, which is pro Newt...

When that sinks into Repub brains, it should change some minds on the so called "morals" of Mr Rick.

Yes, remember there was early voting, many votes cast before Gingrich’s surge.

If Newt did not campaign in Michigan and late deciders broke for Newt, that means (to me) that many people were not happy with either Romney nor Santorum.
