Mitt Romney won the Arizona primary and was clinging to a small but persistent lead over Rick Santorum in Michigan Tuesday with about half of precincts reporting.
The former Massachusetts governor had been widely expected to win Arizona. Michigan was the fiercer battleground, and Mr. Santorum hoped a victory there would help him offset Mr. Romney's advantages in money, organization and experience.
But Mr. Romney held a lead of several percentage points in his native state, where his father was governor. If the narrow margin held up, it would give Mr. Romney momentum but might not dispel doubts about his ability to unify the party.
With 50% of Michigan's precincts reporting, Mr. Romney had 40% of the vote to Mr. Santorum's 36.2%. Texas Rep. Ron Paul had 11.5%, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich had 6.6%.

Don’t blame me. I voted for Santorum. I am willing to bet my county, Yuma County went for Santorum or Gingrich. There is not very many Mormans in this corner of the state.
You are welcome!
We had too many candidates on the ballot. That was NOT a bright move.
Sorry, wasn't raised to be a quitter. And that's not the way it has to be, Mitt's no where near victory.
But let's take the gloves off, full page ads against Mitt, a giant tea party to protest him, whatever we can do to show these arrogant a@#$holes that we WON'T "get in line.
You got that right, Laz. This is a dark day for the Constitution.
Oh, didn’t you hear? There aren’t any LDS any more. We need a new scapegoat, another poster sez.
I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR ROMNEY,!!!!! If we vote for a RINO again
we will continue to have RINOS shoved down our throats!!!!! Romney
will NOT win against Obama, the GOP-E can all sit there then eating a
BIG fat crow!!!!!
Sadly, much of the tea party voted for Romney. I admire you optimism.
I just hate to reboot remote machines. That’s part of the reason this took so long, the box locked up and couldn’t get the machine back into multi-user after a remote power cycle, requiring a 2.5 hour leisurely drive in the middle of the night to give a warm hug to my sick init process. Need to investigate remote consoles.
First time it’s cost us a very real prize. KOing Mitt in MI.
Won’t be the last either with the current situation.
Newt was well ahead of Mitt in the polls. Then came the media and Mitt anti Newt smears. Even ricky piled on.
Rush added his two cents by curbing our enthusiasm for Newt.
Now we have bupkis.
The End.
I think I’m right, but who doesn’t think they’re right?
Well, this particular machine is not remote facing, thus far less susceptible to attack. They’d already have to be in the network to launch an attack, and in that case I’m screwed anyway.
I compromised my values and pulled for McCain because of SP. I'll not compromise them this time. I will not get in line. I will not vote for one traitor in order to remove another just so I can have "my traitor." I promise if it is 0bama v. Romney, I'll stay home.
I was a one-night stand last election....I won't be the GOPe's booty call whore. If I can't trust you'll respect me in the morning....you'll be rejected at the polls.
In Michigan? Newt was ahead in the polls in Michigan? When was this?
......people who would rather not make baseless speculations?
Me too. Luckily, MI is a proportional-representation primary - every vote not for Romney makes it that much harder for him to get to 50% + 1 delegates nationwide.
In "Michigan"? When did I say in Michigan? My comment was meant to be about the national polls.
Dude laughed. He goes, "If they pierce the firewall, we have much bigger issues than this one exploit." :)
I thought AZ might be competitive. I’m surprised it wasn’t even a little bit.
