Each state must redraw its political maps to reflect the 2010 census, and New York is among the last to comply. The delay makes it harder for challengers to start campaigns. The states Congressional primary will be on June 26; its legislative primary will be on Sept. 11.

Legislative districts have been proposed by lawmakers, but not approved, and have been criticized as gerrymandered to protect incumbents. No Congressional districts have been proposed.

More and more court battles every ten years.
The current rep/voter ratio is about 1:700,000.
Get it a lot closer to the 1:30,000 in our Constitution and be done with court battles and probably get a higher percentage of Constitutionalists in Congress.
I'm sure the Clerk of the House would really appreciate 10,000 members in the House of Representatives.

We have the largest House of any state in NH, and it’s fine.
We don’t pay them, of course (that only encourages them). They have no offices, and no staff.
If we did that with Congress, we’d be a lot better off. And the Clerk of the House?
That’s SO 18th century. Put the sessions in the cloud, give each of the 10 000 reps an iPad to attend via video link. Problem solved.

Nobody to speak of lives along the lake...many of those properties east of Olcott are seasonal.

22 is open. it will be gone and other districts expand to eat it up in bits. and One district in NYC area must go. That one is the tough one to figure.
This state sucks so bad. Win or move that’s what I say this year.
at the time of NY-23 Hoffman-Scozzafava-Owens, many assumed redistricting would destroy that district. Now, it may stay largely intact, expanding to include all of Essex County ... Owens may end up with a defendable seat.
same with NY-19. Gibson, formerly Gillibrand. Assumed to be likely gone. Now likely to survive.
