Hamas severs ties with Assad, backs Syrian revolt

But as the Sunni-Shi'ite split in the Middle East deepens, Hamas appears to have cast its lot with the powerful, Egypt-based Sunni Islamists of the Muslim Brotherhood, whose star has been in the ascendant since the Arab Spring revolts last year.

Hamas makes its choice

"This is considered a big step in the direction of cutting ties with Syria," said Hany al-Masri, a Palestinian political commentator. Damascus might now opt to formally expel Hamas's exile headquarters from Syria, he told Reuters.

Banned by deposed Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak, the Muslim Brotherhood has moved to the center of public life. It is the ideological parent of Hamas, which was founded 25 years ago among the Palestinians, the majority of whom are Sunni Muslims.

Shi'ite Hezbollah still supports the Assad family, from the minority Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam, which has maintained authoritarian rule over Syria's Sunni majority for four decades but now may have its back to the wall.

Hamas, however, has been deeply embarrassed among Palestinians by its association with Assad, as the death toll in his crackdown on opponents has risen into the thousands.

We should n ot help the Muslim Brotherhood overthrow the Iranian-backed Ba'athists. Let them kill each other en masse and let the Shia-Sunni split into open war. All the better for us.
I care not one wit for the traitors in the media, Obama regime, and McCain and light-loafers Lindsey Graham, who wish for us to once again ally with Al Qaeda to hand another country to the Muslim Brotherhood.

It’s always about choosing the lesser of two evils and it seems that our choices are wrong about 90% of the time.

That was Bush’s major failing, he looked at Mideast revolution(s) in the context of our revolution (and other Western revolutions). Unfortunately he failed to realize that we were Christian, God fearing rational people fighting for freedom and liberty and self determination for all rather than fanatical religious zealots seeking to dominate their spere as well as everyone in the world to adhere to their beliefs at threat of torture or death.

One cannot negotiate with an insane person nor can one expect Democracy to cure the mental illness.

It looks like most of the Middle East is having some type of war nearly everywhere and rumors of coming wars the the rest of the places. Time for a guy to come in and unite them all with a promise of peace.

Hezbollah to the North of Israel and Hamas to the South.

Ugly indeed.

NOw now, we must be married and be kumbaya with Obama and all. It is the globalist thing to do to be married with rapists and pedophiles, so long the globalist Brahmin upper cast elite is insulated from that Civil Right forced busing.

YOu are so racist, regards,

BushII, "me puppy dog, we want you to be successful", Obama, antisemites wishing to forget the inconveniences of the holocaust, the Soviet genocide, and Chinese Laogai camps, et al. inc.

(sarc off)

ANother liberal false messiah bait. Folkes, do not take it. These are leadership by proxy operations. Our intel services are getting lead by the nose, again, because they are coopting our problems with Syria and Hamas is calculating siding with the State Department so as to ultimately destroy Israel.

This is a statement of what is going wrong for us in Egypt. Hamas’ alliance with the Alawite (Shiite) Assad was one of convenience only. But now that Egypt looks to be dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood for the foreseeable future, Hamas will ally itself with Egypt. Hamas is a Sunni organization like Al Qaeda, and its seems its alliance with Shiite Iran, Syria and Hezbollah is over. Hamas is also a part of the Muslim Brotherhood family. The only good news is that if Israel attacks Iran its southern front might remain quiet. The Sunni's might be counting on Israel to knock out their Shiite rivals, and then will resume hostilities with Israel when the Muslim world is all theirs.
