OW folks tend to avoid holding the steering wheel in a crash because there’s nasty mechanical feedback through the steering as the wheel(s) impact the wall and likely broken arm/hand. The full body on a stock car makes that less likely.

yeah, I heard that on the commentary. I never knew it before and I was impressed with the discipline it must take to do that. You can talk and talk about emergency procedures but when the shit hits the fan things change and instincts take over.

I did early spring time high altitude trail maintenance with the parks service and they taught us to stand our ground and make ourselves big if we encountered bears on the trail. Someone asked the instructor if he had come across bears coming out of hibernation and what he did. He said he ran like hell. :-)

I don't know how many times Danica has crashed, but I give her credit. I give all of them credit. Any sport at it's highest level is a proof of talent, dedication and an innate ability gene the rest of us didn't get.
