Rick Santorum says his 2008 comments that Satan has set his sights on the United States of America are not relevant to the 2012 presidential race, but Chris Christie told me on GMA that Santorum is wrong.
Listen, I think anything you say as a presidential candidate is relevant. It is by definition relevant. Youre asking to be president of the United States. I dont think [Santorum's] right about that. I think it is relevant what he says. I think people want to make an evaluation, a complete evaluation of anyone who asks to sit in the Oval Office, the New Jersey governor said.
Adding to the religious discussion on the campaign trail, yesterday Santorum said he would defend everything he says and Mitt Romney said the Obama administration has fought against religion.
But Christie doesnt think a debate over religion is a conversation the Republican Party wants to engage in.
Do I think its the things we should be as a party talking about and emphasizing at the moment? No, he said.
I think the idea of the fighting against religion piece of this goes to more to Obamacare issue and the invasion of Obamacare into maybe some religious freedom issues. I think thats an interesting conversation and an important one to have in the context of overall Obamacare and whats that going to mean for the country if it goes forward after the Supreme Court arguments this spring, he said.

This liar says it’s relevant because he has endorsed Romney. If Mittens had said it, it would be irrelevant. Pathetic RINO hypocrit.
Satan is the 800# gorilla no one wants to talk about. That’s what he count on.
Like Sarah Palin said last night on Hannity...a lot of the MSM act like they have never gone to church. She said they did the same thing to her.
RE: Satan is the 800# gorilla no one wants to talk about.
And how many pounds is Chris Christie? :)
Does that mean Mitt’s Mormon beliefs and statements to the flock are relevant, Governor?
Christie thought Santorum said ‘deviled eggs’ and got all excited.
“This liar says its relevant because he has endorsed Romney”
Wait, I don’t get it. Why wouldn’t a Santorum supporter say it’s relevant, too? Santorum’s not running away from the comments, right? He and his supporters believe saying the devil is after the U.S. is no different from Reagan’s Evil Empire comments. Certainly there’s no scruples in Santy’s camp over inserting religion into politics when and wherever they can. So what’s the issue, here?
there’s = there’re
What do these people not understand about the fact that Santorum was speaking to a CATHOLIC university in the language of the CATHOLIC church?
Thus spaketh the obese homosexualist RINO...
I agree with Gov. Christie, and how about we take it seriously when Obama references “my muslim faith?”
LLS
Some might not like Santorum but at least he follows his Catholic faith a hell of a lot better than RINO Christie.
Christie has said many times he thinks homosexuality is genetic and is not a sin against God. In otherwords he does not believe what the Holy Bible teaches. He also said last night on CNN that he sees nothing wrong with contraception and it’s a personal choice. So folks what we have here is another “Catholic” politician who gives the Church a bad name exactly like the liberals Pelosi, Biden and the rest of the hypocrites that profess to be of the Catholic faith.
And Christie’s a Catholic? Christ Himself believed in Satan. Bob
That’s hilarious! Thanks, Bob
Satan’s minion Soros and his toadies Obama and Holder are already in place for the big push of evil.
Yes, they are relevant. They are a window into who Santorum is.
And I like what I see.
I tend to agree that religion should not be the centerpiece of this year’s presidential election in the face of our treacherous economy and weakened top dog position in the world. HOWEVER, people of faith have for decades now watched themselves and their beliefs been put down by arrogant pols and media types, intellectuals, and others. They are just tired of it and aren’t going to take it any more.
