Obama cannot take legitimate credit for increased domestic production of oil. All of that was set in motion by approved drilling permits and actions taken by the Bush team the previous eight years.
Even the drooling sycophants in the media ought to realize it takes time to get rigs in place and operational once the government paper work is done.
Obama may as well take credit for Pixar's success, too, since they've made a ton of money since he was put into power. Except he had NOTHING TO DO WITH THEIR SUCCESS.

Let me guess.
Republicans are to blame.
And the media will proudly lie about this from now until election.

Obama To Address Soaring Gas PricesWell, good! I hope he gives those naughty gas prices a stern talkin' to.
What a charade.
Libs and RATS and the whores in Big Media (but I repeat myself) accused President Bush of manipulating gas prices heading into the 2008 election. As we all know, RATS always accuse Republicans of engaging in the very acts they themselves engage in. We've all seen how the stock market magically goes up every time Urkel gets another trillion dollars to spend so why should we be surprised if gas prices suddenly start falling after a run up?
And, again magically, right before the election. My guess is gas will be back down around 3.50 a gallon come November and President Clouseau will run around crowing (is that racist?) about how he prevented gas prices from going to ten dollars a gallon or some such b.s.

Speech:
I wanted the Keystone pipeline, Republicans blocked it
My administration has opened up more oil fields than any other in history, Republicans are blocking the permit process
I wanted to lower the federal tax on gas taxes, Republicans have blocked that
My administration is trying to fund alternative energy business, Republicans are blocking the funding
I want you to beleive everything thing I am saying today, it is not my fault it is the fault of the Republicans

My guess is that the speech will be a complication of all of Obama’s past energy speeches. Bush's fault, stupid Republicans putting a stop to the Keystone Pipeline, bla bla bla.
Even if I knew without a doubt that Obama knew what he was talking about, I wouldn’t believe a word that comes out of his lying mouth.

It’s the eeeevulll oil companies. We need steal their oil and nationalize it.
To: SoFloFreeper
I kinda think he may say something like:
“It is ALL the fault of the oil companies and George Bush, an oil man you know. Right now, Venezuelan gas prices are under $2.00 a gallonm while here in the United States gas prices are approaching $4.00 a gallon. This is unacceptable. The only way for us to get gas prices under control is to nationalize the oil companies like their great leader Hugo Chavez did.”
or something like that.
