On a slightly different topic, I see this move by Obama as desperation - he doesn’t even have his base shored up, so he resorts to such foolishness during an election year.

It actually was a very smart move. It moves the debate away from Obama’s performance, and to something that most women do and many would love for free. Chemical birth control.

By making Santorum and Newt defend their faith, the media spin machine can attack them at will without having to report on anything else. Make no mistake, this has (for now) given Obama the female vote.
