Who had the bright idea of letting Turkey into NATO in the first place?
Turkey was allowed to join in 1952 because NATO needed to reinforce its “southern flank”. It did stop the Soviet Union easy access to the Mediterranean Sea and stop Greece from being taken over by the Communists.
