Washington (CNN) - In a move that could again dramatically shake up the Republican primary race, billionaire and major Republican donor Sheldon Adelson is expected to donate an additional $10 million to the super PAC supporting Newt Gingrich, Winning Our Future, a source with knowledge of the donation told CNN.
That contribution is expected soon, before the end of the month, the source said. The timing is important because Gingirch, whose campaign has been lagging, is hoping to do well in several of the upcoming Super Tuesday states that vote on March 6 to boost his effort. His allies will need that money to be in a position to help. Because ten states go to the polls on that one day, money is key in order to do well.
Such a large gift will give Winning Our Future a major financial shot in the arm and will help it narrow the financial disparity it has with the super PACs supporting Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum. Both of those groups are up with major TV ad buys while Winning Our Future is up with several radio ad campaigns.

Newt just raised several million on his west coast swing and now this megamillion injection will boost his chances on taking a lion's share of delegates on Super Tueday.
Down the stretch, Newt will rocket past Limousine Liberal Romney.
Excellent. Hammer away at Mittens!
Too bad he didn’t have this cash infusion during Florida. We could be looking at a far different race right now. I hope Newt’s S-PAC can put it to good use and finally eliminate Romney.
Sheldon Adelson is supposed to be the world’s richest Jew.
Hammer time!
This is probably GOOD news for the Romney Campaign. Santorum had all the momentum and was threatening Romney everywhere. If Newt gets this money it can only serve to hurt Santorum and divide the anti-Romney vote.
He did have this cash in Florida. Newt was running super PAC ads in Florida with the casino guy’s funds. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this is now a total of 20 million from this guy.
Now what payback does he want? I like my candidates broke and without chains. That way they will represent me.
>> This is probably GOOD news for the Romney Campaign
Santorum and his supporters initiated all that “GOOD news for the Romney Campaign”.
Go Newt!
“This is probably GOOD news for the Romney Campaign. Santorum had all the momentum and was threatening Romney everywhere. If Newt gets this money it can only serve to hurt Santorum and divide the anti-Romney vote.”
It depends. I think the smartest move for team Gingrich would be to carpet bomb Romney only and remove him from consideration as a viable candidate. Then Newt and Santorum can go head to head giving Newt one last shot.
If Newt goes solely after Santorum (or Romney AND Santorum)he is atually no better off. It is still a three man race, where he is trailing, which doesn’t narrow the field. At best, it returns to the conservatives splittng the Not Romney vote and does Gingrich no good.
Newt needs to destroy Romney ASAP. By “destroy” I mean DESTROY.
Then again, I am not paid political consultant so what do I know?
Isn’t this the gambling millionaire that thinks Santorum would block some scheme of his?
>> Actually, the major media and GOP dinosaur establishment would love to have Romney and Santorum as number one and number two running against Obama.
Correct, and the Santorum hubris may realize that inevitability.
No, he had cash from Adleson in Florida but he did not have that cash AND this cash. If he had that cash AND this cash in Florida then he may have been able to fight back a little more effectively. Granted, Newt made several mistakes after SC but the scorched-earth campaign of Romney wasn’t something he could fight with the money he had at the time.
I thought he had ten million from Adleson prior to this infusion, before and during Florida.
“Excellent. Hammer away at Mittens!”
This is great! Mitt backed out of the GA debate because he figured Newt was toast and out of money. Mitt figured he could run from Newt’s superior debate powers and now he looks like the coward he is.
In some of the polls on the Real Clear Politics website Rick Santorum is moving up in some of the polls in Georgia.
2012 Delegate Tracker
Romney 123
Santorum 72
Gingrich 32
Paul 19
Huntsman (out) 2
1,144 needed - source: WSJ
(Anybody but Mittens, for sure, (well, not Paul) but right now the delegate numbers and the momentum favor Santorum - until the Drive-Bys launch on him I’m sure)
Who the hell would financially back Mitt besides Soros?
If he’s getting low on funds, then maybe his “better half” will put a stop to his run, like in 2008, before he spends all their money.
For Newt, if Adelson is throwing in another $10 Mill, guess I can again do my part to keep Mitt and Santorn’em from leading by default. Its down to nutcutin time, if Rick somehow gets the Nom, we are toast as he can’t figure out how to keep from biting the contraception bait from the left.
Thinking he backed $5Mil on SuperPac last time. Mitt spent $20 Mil + on Newt mud in FLA.
