Palin Says Brokered Convention Would Not Hurt GOP (says she can endorse)
The New York Times Caucus Blog ^ | February 11, 2012 | Jeff Zeleny

Ms. Palin, who frequently offers her take on the race as a commentator on the Fox News Channel, did not rule out making her preference known as the campaign moved forward.

“My contract does not prohibit me from endorsing, thank goodness,” Ms. Palin said. “So I’m just like 60 percent, 70 percent of Americans still trying to decipher who’s best.”

I am rhetorically taking bets! Wanna bet that she endorses Newt on Friday before Super Tuesday? Maybe I am dreaming, but at least it keeps me from falling into a severe depression :) Go Newt!

Not a chance. I still think she's playing for the big prize.

I’m certain she doesn’t want to hurt Newt Gingrich or Rick Santorum. I just know she doesn’t want Romney.

Of course, like you, I would much prefer that she endorse Newt Gingrich, like her husband, Todd Palin already has!

I don’t think Palin is going to endorse anytime soon. I think she is trying to make sure we do not get railroaded into nominated Romney without at least pausing to think about it first. She is effectively saying, “hey, slow down, do we really want to nominate Mitt?”.

I think she is doing a great service here, and yeah, I do agree with you that she favors Newt as the best option, but I don’t think she wants to make an endorsement soon.

If Romney does win the nomination, it is very clear she will support him. But I think she is not really thrilled with the idea and is trying to provide some room for one of the other candidates challenge Mitt. No matter how one views it, it is a good thing. Palin potentially stops Romney without coming out directly against him, and if that doesn’t happen she will have at least made sure he knows he better cater to conservatives far better or the base will sit out.

If by "big prize" you mean making sure the Republican nominee ultimately defeats Obama this November, then yes, you are right. If by "big prize" you are deluding yourself into believing Palin wants to enter the race as a candidate, be the nominee due to a brokered convention, or be the nominee for any other reason, then no, you are still refusing to let go of the fact that Palin is not in any way running for President. What more does the governor have to say? Some of you people really just can't get your head wrapped around the fact that she said no. No means no. She has no regrets, she will support the ultimate nominee, she is not running and will not be drafted as the GOP nominee. Let it go.

This thread is perfectly timed as I just finished watching Sarah Palin’s CPAC speech.

I am waiting for someone to wake me up, tell me this has been a bad dream, and that she is, in fact, running for President.

An endorsement might be the right thing, given the reality, but it’s not the best we can do, I’m sorry to say. I respect her decision not to run, but damn, just damn.

As I recall, her refusal contained the words, “not the right time,” or some such. I didn’t hear “never gonna run.” Hoping, praying that the right time comes some time in August, in Tampa.

I agree with what Andrew Breitbart said... Sarah does much better as a kingmaker. I think he called her “The Oprah of the Right.” I love Sarah and would have been very excited to vote for her had she run; but I think she’s doing really good things here lately. Much better than she would have been able to do had she joined this mud-slinging Primary free-for-all.

Helping extend the selection process for one. The sooner we have a nominee, the more time Obama’s Machine has time to grind them into sausage.

Frankly, Obama is doing that well enough all on his own, without being able to divert the discussion and direct his vitriol at the one GOP candidate.

If he was able to direct all of his minions, the MSM, the James Carville's, the Hollywood Listers, his union zombies and all of his Soros and Mexican Drug Cartel money (you do realize that is where the Fast & Furious investigation is leading, don't you?), plus his new infusion of "mortgage payout" money at one individual nominee starting in March do you realize what would happen? In order for that nominee to just defend themselves... not campaign mind you, just defend... they would be out of money by the middle of the summer.

Sorry for the muddled post. These Sunday afternoon Free Republic 503 errors (now de rigueur, so it seems) are killing my editing capabilities. I’m outta here.
